The Sentence on the Chalkboard Fall 2009. University at Albany. Contract = Offer + Acceptance + Mutual Assent. The classroom version stayed with me because of its simplicity. It captured the teaching point in a form you could remember long after the lecture ended. The tighter legal compression came later: a contract is mutual assent, evidenced by offer and acceptance. The formula persists.
