6’8 Point Forward Blake Nielsen is the best NBA Draft Prospect in Division 2 For the season the senior averaged 18/6/4 while helping St Edward’s finish as one of the best teams in D2 finishing with a 26-9 record. Nielsen also had 16/8/3 in his lone matchup with a D1 opponent against Texas. Nielsen’s mix of passing, shot creation, spot up shooting, finishing, handle, pace, and versatility at his size is extremely valuable and it’s something not a lot of players possess. Nielsen was one of the best playmakers in all of college basketball this season at 6’8 with his ability to be a connective passer, find his teammates off the PNR, or create plays for his teammates. Nielsen is an elite decision maker who has the ability to find his teammates at a high level with his passing vision. Nielsen also has elite touch at the rim and was one of the best creation finishers in D2 where he shot 60% at the rim while also shooting 47% on floaters. Nielsen is also a high level catch and shoot shooter where he shot 37% on catch and shoot threes on 4 attempts a game.

Tried to turn the corner and found a brick wall waiting as Sam McKinney (@13SamMckinney), The Human Highlight Reel, came downhill with bad intentions and still met resistance. Chest up, lane cut off, hands high, no business decision made, just pure competition in the moment. But sometimes effort meets elevation, and Sam took off like he had springs in his shoes, the windmill loading as his body kept rising. A full three-quarter body length above the contest, hanging in the air long enough to let everyone know what time it was. The look on his face said satisfaction, while the look on mine said agony, two emotions colliding right at the rim. This is what hoops is about. No shortcuts, no backing down, one player attacking the moment while the other stands their ground and takes it head-on. Respect earned on both sides, because not everyone is willing to step in and try to deny greatness in real time. That’s basketball. Compete, clash, live with the result. And just know this certainly ain’t over… It’s my ball next.

After our 3-0 start in Canada I am excited for this upcoming week. Homecoming week starts tomorrow (Thurs) as we play an exhibition against my good friend and our former coach @CoachRyanMarks St. Francis Illinois visits the RAC at 7pm. We have a great weekend of events planned!
