FORMER POWER MINISTER SENTENCED TO 75 YEARS OVER ₦33.8BN MAMBILLA & ZUNGERU PROJECT FUNDS
Federal High Court has sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to 75 years in prison over the diversion of ₦33.8 billion meant for the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects.
Mamman, who served as Minister of Power from August 2019 to July 2021, was accused of overseeing the alleged diversion of funds during his tenure.
The EFCC said he diverted the funds using some ministry officials, private companies, and Bureau de Change operators.
He was also reported to have purchased the Taraba State APC governorship forms, while separately facing another case at the FCT High Court in Maitama, where he is accused of diverting ₦31 billion meant for the Mambilla Power Project.
Delivering the judgment today, Justice Omotosho sentenced Mamman, who is on the run and was absent at the last court sitting, on each count and ordered that the sentences run consecutively bringing the total to 75 years.
The court also ruled that the sentence will begin to run from the day the convict is arrested, and ordered all security agencies, including Interpol, to apprehend him wherever he is found.
Monies recovered, along with forfeited properties, are to be remitted to the Federal Government, while the convict is also ordered to pay the outstanding balance of ₦22 billion tied to the affected hydroelectric power projects.

Dear Constituents and Nigerians,
The comments suggesting that the selection of beneficiaries for the China, Taiwan, and South Africa training sponsorships was influenced by tribal considerations. I consider it important to clarify the facts.
These international sponsorship opportunities are not constituency projects funded through any statutory allocation. They are goodwill initiatives personally facilitated to support the growth, exposure, and empowerment of residents of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II.
The objective has always been simple: to create opportunities for our people to gain global knowledge, skills, and experience that can be brought back home for personal and community development.
For transparency, the first batch of beneficiaries was selected strictly from the pool of applicants who responded and submitted their interest when the opportunity was announced. The second batch was equally chosen based on merit, qualification, and readiness to maximize the programme.
At no point was ethnicity, tribe, or personal affiliation used as a basis for selection.
My commitment remains to serve every resident of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II fairly, regardless of background, religion, or ethnic identity.
I strongly believe leadership should be measured by impact, access, and opportunities created for the people, not by divisive narratives intended to distract from genuine progress.
More opportunities will continue to come, and I encourage all eligible residents to position themselves and apply when such openings are announced.
I will continue to build a stronger and more empowered Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II.

Let’s set the record straight:
“Reports claiming that Femi Otedola funded the Dangote Petroleum Refinery are completely and utterly false. He has not invested a single kobo, not one dollar, not one naira. The real story, which those peddling these lies conveniently ignore, is that Mr. Otedola has actually been requesting a special allocation to participate in the refinery’s forthcoming public offer.”
I can categorically state that at no point did Alhaji Dangote request for financing from Mr Elumelu, Mr Adenuga and myself . The Dangote Group is a well-structured organisation that is well vast in raising structured capital for its operations. This is calculated mischief and a deliberate attempt to create rifts and sow discord within Nigeria’s closely knit and respected private sector leadership. These are men who have built businesses, created jobs, and invested in this nation for decades. They deserve better than to be used as props in a social media fabrication.
To those behind this: desist immediately.. And to everyone else, social media is not a tool for manufactured drama. Nigeria deserves truth, not lies dressed up as insider information!
