When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, there were 3-5 TV channels - and they frequently carried govt ads ("public information films") that everyone saw on how to handle dangers from strangers in the park to electricity substations and driving behaviour. We need stuff like...

This is the full Transport for London advert which includes the portion which was turned into a short facebook advert that has now been banned. The full advert in context is actually very good. It's a shame that the facebook advert has distracted from the intention.

When’s the last time you saw a hedgehog? 🦔 Their numbers are falling, so I just signed a petition to make hedgehog highways - tiny gaps in fences to help them - mandatory in ALL new builds. Add your name: 38d.gs/hwer

Oh gosh you guys, already? Please remove this from your 'advice' regarding feeding: "or try scattering food to encourage more natural foraging behaviour." NEVER DO THIS! Firstly: Scattering food around not only attracts rats and mice, it means the food will be in direct contact with the ground, where slugs have left slime trails, therefore contaminating the food with lungworm. Slugs are the intermediate host of lungworm - deadly to all mammals, including hedgehogs. Lungworm is deadly to hedgehogs, so it's really VITAL that food is provided in dishes which are washed clean each morning. Secondly: Hedgehogs are wild animals. They do not need 'encouraging to forage'!! It's hardwired into them, it's a survival instinct. A dish of cat food isn't going to undo 15 million years of evolution. Apart from being misinformation, your words are extremely harmful, as they suggest that by feeding a hedgehog you will somehow pervert their natural instincts. Please remove this harmful phrase from all your online and offline literature.

Earlier this year we lost our good friend Jamie Normington. Jamie’s wife Bea has set up a fundraiser in his memory, it would mean the world if my followers could help get to the target. Jamie was one of the best, he is greatly missed 💚 justgiving.com/team/teamjamie…

Yesterday nearly broke me but over 10,000 dogs will be operated on now because of the Marathon. Probably a lot more once we plan it all out. That was the hardest day of my life but I just can’t believe what people are like. Can’t walk but also speechless ❤️

They suffer. They die. For nothing. The badger cull is barbaric, unnecessary, and cruel. Science proves it doesn’t work, yet it continues. This has to stop. Enough is enough.

This is appalling. What on earth was the reason for the three-line whip to vote this down? The Labour party supported the swift brick amendment when it was tabled on Conservative government legislation in 2023. Has the government offered an explanation for blocking it now?
Dr Tom Montgomery@DrTOMontgomery

#birds Swifts fly thousands of miles to breed in the UK—only to find their nest sites blocked up. Their ancient forests with nest hollows now gone, they relied on cavities in buildings, but these, too, have disappeared. To stop their steep 2/3rds decline since 1995, an inexpensive swift brick nest box was proposed to be incorporated by law into new buildings—also helping other red-listed cavity nesting bird species. But in a vote last night, UK Labour destroyed a golden opportunity to do this small thing for one of the most nature-depleted countries in Europe.
