@randomrecruiter I experienced this at my first job. One recruiter was there for 10 yrs, highly skilled, great at his job, and placed a ton but he was unbearable to work and interact with. Then he became an AE and no recruiters wanted to work with him because he was so difficult to work with.

Being the top performer won't save you if no one wants to work with you. I used to work with a woman who was the top sales rep at our company for years. But she was impossible to work with. It was always her way or the highway and she was never wrong. But nobody said a word because the numbers were there. Then the company got acquired, the job market tanked, and her main client stopped hiring and cut a ton of contractors she placed. The revenue she produced dropped roughly 80% from the peak of the ZIRP era. Once the production dried up, the company stopped looking the other way. They told her to get in line or get out. She quit. She burned every bridge on the way out. Cursed people off over text and email. Allegedly refused to return her laptop. She thought her network would catch her the same way it caught me when I was laid off. Instead, she found out no one actually liked working with her. And as the news of how her resignation played out, no one wants to put their name behind hers for a referral. God forbid it goes south? Guess who takes the blame. It's been over a month. She's still looking. Turns out no one actually liked working with her. They just tolerated her because she produced. Many examples in sports like this too. How many Star WRs are there that are on top of the world for 2-3 seasons until everyone has enough of their crap? Same concept in Corporate America.
