@1984Shelly
A person with common sense and very little patience for ignorance or dishonestly.

I have long written and spoken about the many ways US immigration policy harms international students and scholars. This has been true for as long as I can remember, including when I first came to the US on a single-entry student visa more than 20 years ago under a process formerly known as muslim registry program. But the current administration has gone much further, through arbitrary policy changes, travel bans, and broad visa processing pauses that leave folks unable to work, travel, or train. These policies affect a minority of scientists, and in the current state of the world they can be easy to overlook. But we should not let that happen. I wrote about the quiet loss of Iranian scientific talent in US labs for @TheScientistLLC: the-scientist.com/the-quiet-loss…

Citizenship should mean something. Legal immigration is the backbone of this country, but our open borders have been exploited for too long. The 14th Amendment was never intended to grant automatic citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants. My amendment fixes that, ensuring only children of legal residents receive automatic citizenship and protecting U.S. citizenship from abuse if the Supreme Court fails to act.

Most VCs wouldn’t touch Anthropic in 2023. Yasmin Razavi did. The Spark Capital partner led a $450M round when Anthropic had no public product, no revenue and a massive capital need. Now the AI giant’s rise has landed her on the Forbes Midas List for the first time. forbes.com/sites/iainmart… (Photo: Guerin Blask For Forbes) #ForbesMidas
