@user_p3 @axernoy In what way? I would say pseudo intellectuals mostly act as mocking birds when it comes to strong ideas rather than wrestling with them, which is what tons of people do with shitty video essays talking about Nietzsche or stoicism or literately anything. Just regurgitating.

@axernoy That’s not to say JP isn’t on a bit of a schzio path rn, but if we’re talking prime JP this guy was 100% an intellectual that did a good job bridging the gap for younger generations. He served his purpose.

@axernoy I think the most ironic video I’ve ever seen was someone who didn’t understand Jordan Peterson claiming he was a pseudo intellectual. Meanwhile the video poster was relying on various philosophers with barely any value to affirm her beliefs rather than prove her own point.

@AlexGaggio @Etanarachel -and I think men have to show some compromise and obviously improve impulse control but I do not think they are so cognitively behind that they literally act on impulse because they can’t think before they speak (which is what you learned at 13).

@AlexGaggio @Etanarachel I’m just checking out of this 💀. Nothing what I said is a fantasy I just disagree on the notion that men have to “learn” this. They probably have learned it they just are either stubborn (uncompromising) or care little about consequence (risk taking). It’s not healthy per se-

@AlexGaggio @Etanarachel My response really is taking annoyance without how you framed it as if men haven’t “learned” a basic cognitive ability we literally all have by the age of an adult. The difference is what you do with that awareness which I agree there is a difference that can be bad or good.

@AlexGaggio @Etanarachel And I said men are prone to risk taking and would be aware of consequences but act on impulse under the thought process that their emotions are justified. This could be toxic or positive mind you, it’s more so a trait of showing less compromise, which is sometimes necessary.

@AlexGaggio @Etanarachel Only half of what you’re claiming is true, but to argue men “still haven’t learned consequence of their outbursts” is ridiculous.

@AlexGaggio @Etanarachel You were arguing that at the age of 13 you developed the ability to recognise that if you purely react to things there will be consequences and that men still haven’t learned this. The studies don’t imply men literally can’t recognise consequences but rather struggle with impulse

@AlexGaggio @Etanarachel Ability to control impulsive feelings vs cognitively recognising that your actions will have consequences. These are two completely different things and the male angle is probably more risk taking (willing to risk the consequences of an outburst they deem justified) than women.

@AlexGaggio @Etanarachel I was taught to think before I speak when I was 12. Like, it’s entirely random when people have these “click” moments with cognitive development. There’s relative consistency but shit like autism or ADHD can impact this too.

@AlexGaggio @Etanarachel How the hell do you even make these claims without realizing “I actually have no proof of how much men or women can think before they speak and probably shouldn’t generalise a chunk of men as not being able to do a thing I was able to do”???

@schizofoid88 @mclovenxoxo Is that not the masculine equivalent of worship? My entire point is that you can go outside and see tons of men doing the exact same thing you’re claiming women do to men.

@1998Fishy @mclovenxoxo Yes, the “nice guy” stereotype is exactly the kind of guy I described: men pretending to be kind and compassionate and oftentimes feminist in order to get laid.

I think a lot of woman on here acting outraged at this quote are not honest with themselves about how women “love” men, maybe it’s because I grew up in florida with a lot of women and girls who were very misogynistic but I rarely saw women love a man for who he was past the persona he performed or the resources he could provide. I think we live in a society that is very bad at love and women think they are good at it because they take on a majority of the care roles but care isn’t love. I don’t know, it’s hard to put into a tweet but all the feminists angrily saying “women have been doing this for years and all we get is abused and mistreated” are just missing the point entirely. Many women are their sons first bully (and daughters). women uphold the patriarchy and are warped by it and that is still true even when we are the victims of it. I still know so many women who openly admit they hate when men cry or act “feminine”. It doesn’t help anyone to act like women are perfect, how could any of us be perfect raised in this abusive culture?

@schizofoid88 @mclovenxoxo Have you not heard of a “nice guy” stereotype? How are you even engaging in this discussion not knowing what a “nice guy” means lmao. You just described literally what I was referring to.

@schizofoid88 @mclovenxoxo It’s not exactly healthy for a man to revoke his masculinity just to appeal to a woman. It’s also not healthy for a woman to revoke their femininity to appeal to a man. Both of these are essentially killing parts of yourself to gain sexual favours. None of it’s about love.

@schizofoid88 @mclovenxoxo If you go outside you also see a million nice guys that bend over backwards for women, even to the point they are shaped by them, so what is your point lmao. The problem is the culture of manipulation, where men shape women and women shape men. Both sides are being eaten alive
