Ethan Del Mastro A few flashes of defensive dominance but too often totally off-form and a liability. Needs to reach a respectable level, earn an NHL spot and stay there, or he will likely get traded 3. Landon Slaggert An amazing guy and total dog on the ice. A potential huge asset to have in the playoffs down the line. Plagued by injuries last year and often lacks the final finishing touch. Needs to stay healthy and earn a spot on the team long-term 4. Drew Commesso Couldn't earn a spot on the NHL roster for the past three years. Flashes hot and cold in the AHL. Is he a true NHL goalie or just a third option 5. Frank Nazar Got a big contract last Summer, so the pressure is up. Probably plagued by more injuries than we know about last year that really threw his game off. That said, if he wants to play center, he now has to compete with Frondell for 2C or be dropped to the 3rd line or wing 6. Artyom Levshunov Still super young at 20 years old, so the pressure should not be on. But because of draft position and fanbase remorse over Demidov, the heat will get cranked up fast on his progress, especially if he does not start learning from his instinctive mistakes

Thinking about Levshunov. Thinking about the fact that this was practically his first NHL season. Thinking about the fact that the Hawks drafted him for his tools, something in which, if we bought into, we know would take time. Thinking about the fact this kids career has barely begun. Thinking about the fact that defence prospects take a little longer. I guess, in the end, this tells me... I'm not ready to give up on Arty.
