FREE COLE BEAUDOIN! Pretty funny moment when officials forced Beaudoin to stay in the penalty box while the rest of his team celebrated Aitcheson’s franchise record-breaking goal. #Isles #TusksUp

At the start of the month, I published short scouting reports on my Top 64, as part of my #2026NHLDraft Top 100 Let’s toast those writeups by taking some requests - which prospects do you want to know my thoughts on?

After Bridgeport, what should Hamilton call its new club? I think it’s important that the new identity of the relocating Bridgeport Islanders feel unmistakably Hamilton from day one. For me, theres only one name that truly fits, and that’s the Hamilton Tigers. It honors the city’s authentic sports heritage and gives local fans an identity they can immediately embrace. Hamilton’s sole NHL franchise was the Tigers, which played from 1920 to 1925 after relocating from the Quebec Bulldogs. The team topped the NHL standings in 1924-25 before a players’ strike over compensation led to its dissolution and the sale of its roster to form the New York Americans. That brief chapter remains Hamilton’s genuine big-league hockey legacy. The #Isles front office should make this choice and turn the relocation into a true homecoming. What would you name the new team?

His contract situation is actually pretty confusing, but from what I can understand, his entry-level contract locked his control to the Islanders. They chose to loan him back to his old club this year but have full control over what he does, and they have a lot of options next year for North America. His CHL rights are with the Sarnia Sting, so he could maybe play there but my guess is that he’s in the AHL/ECHL pipeline by next season.

@19consecutive For next year as well or just this year? I know he’s raw and still a few years away, but I believe his development would best be suited by coming to North America next year. I’m hoping that he does.

Looking at Daniil Prokhorov’s Development Plan Under Slava Kozlov at Dynamo Moscow At 18 years old, 6'5" forward Daniil Prokhorov remains one of the most intriguing young prospects in the #Isles system. A second-round pick in 2025, he’s currently in Russia playing with Dynamo Moscow, and was splitting time between their VHL affiliate in St. Petersburg, and occasional MHL appearances. His KHL numbers are quite modest, roughly 25 games, one goal, and limited ice time, but the club believes they are deliberate with his usage. His development is currently in the hands of Slava Kozlov, his head coach in the KHL. Kozlov, the former Detroit Red Wings winger and member of the legendary Russian Five alongside Sergei Fedorov, Vladimir Konstantinov, Igor Larionov, and Viacheslav Fetisov, is no ordinary bench boss. Drafted by Detroit in 1990, he played more than 1,100 NHL games, won two Stanley Cups with the Wings. He stepped in as Dynamo’s interim coach in November 2025 and was officially named head coach in December 2025, after a strong run that stabilized the team. Early in the season, under previous head coach Alexei Kudashov, the message to Prokhorov was patient and encouraging. Kozlov’s feedback has been more granular and demanding. The most revealing comments came in a February 6, 2026 interview with Championat.com’s Sergei Emelyanov. When asked whether Prokhorov’s extended time in the VHL was due to any locker-room or behavioral issues, Kozlov was clear that the problems were purely on-ice: “He plays a lot there [in the VHL]. He still has some moments flashing… He plays well with the puck, but in defense… Sometimes he either ignores it or just skates past [opponents]. He has huge potential, long arms, [good] stick. But in this component, Daniil still lags behind the other players.” Kozlov went further when discussing Prokhorov’s long-term upside (including potential NHL success with the Islanders): “In the defensive zone, everyone should play — from Kucherov to everyone else. This is what he needs to improve, not only here but for the future. Without defense, his line will always be shut down, as if they’re constantly short-handed — he needs to help the defensemen.” His most recent comments on March 9th praised Prokhorov’s ability to make something happen with limited chances. “Daniil Prokhorov had good moments in past games and today, for example breakaways/one-on-ones, but the realization/finishing lets him down… In the KHL it’s harder to score. You need to squeeze the maximum out of every moment. Daniil is a young player, so he needs to work on it in practices—to be smarter.” That’s the crux of Prokhorov’s current situation under Kozlov. The big winger’s physical tools, puck skills, reach, and aggression are undeniable, but at KHL speed, against men, those tools only go so far without consistent defensive detail. The Islanders will be watching closely. If Prokhorov absorbs Kozlov’s defensive lessons the way he’s already shown he can with the puck, that 6'5" frame and skill set could become a real problem for anyone in his way. The caveat is that this kind of development path can cut both ways. If the role stays too limited, there’s a risk the process slows him down instead of unlocking him. With Prokhorov, it’s simply out of the Islanders hands until he makes the move to North America, which I believe is sooner rather than later.

@PASQUALEFO69435 My understanding is that because he’s a European draftee, that means no CHL juniors rules so he could’ve jumped straight to the AHL even at his age, but the Isles loaned him back to his Russian club.

The conversation has shifted from “will Matthew Schaefer get any Norris votes?” to “how high on the ballot is he finishing?” My guess is that he’s in the Top-5.

Game Day Spotlight: Anthony Duclair vs. Senators Anthony Duclair finally looks to have found his place in the lineup ahead of the #Isles visit to his old team, the Ottawa Senators. Through 58 games this season, Duclair sits at 12-15-27, and we need the speedy vet to get back to his game. It wasn’t long ago when he put up a hat trick and a five-point night against the Devils. Tonight he’ll likely line up with Schenn and Holmstrom, It’s a good road spot to build consistency. I’d even go as far to say he’s good for one. It just feels like a Duke kinda night, doesn’t it?
