@Dr_Toboggan__69 If we’re talking Isles defenders, I’d say he has some shades of Devon Toews to his game - both are calm, cool and collected and they think the game quickly. That said, he’s got a long way to go before he hits that ceiling.
@19consecutive Whose play style doing you think he emulates the most from recent isles Dmen? Idk much about this kid at all to be honest except he has a cool name

7. Xavier Veilleux
Xavier Veilleux brings a tremendous amount of value to the Islanders’ system.
A real sleeper LHD with great mobility and puck-moving ability. He’s got the prototype size at 6’1” and what I like most is that he transitions his game seamlessly to whatever zone he’s in. He can move pucks and see passing lanes while smothering gaps and shrinking the ice for the opposition.
In 34 games with Cornell, he put up 6 goals and 20 assists for 26 points with only 12 penalty minutes. Those numbers set Cornell freshman defenseman records for both assists and total points.
Veilleux was named to the All-ECAC Second Team, All-Ivy First Team, and ECAC All-Rookie Team, while also earning ECAC Defenseman of the Month honors for January.
While Defensemen take time, and late-round ones especially, I think all the right traits are there for Veilleux. His skating, vision, and two-way game make him one of the more complete defenders in the pipeline and he could make things very interesting when he finally decides to go pro.
Danny Nelson getting the World Championship nod is a big step for his development and a strong sign of where the #Isles prospect is headed.

8. Quinn Finley
Coming in at #8, I think this position says more about how much deeper the prospect pool has become than it does about Quinn Finley.
He was one of the most important players on the second best team in the country and helped lead Wisconsin to the Frozen Four championship game.
After the Islanders drafted Finley in the 3rd round back in 2022, he’s been on a steady development path. He’s much stronger and has really rounded out his game while still being that dangerous threat offensively.
I don’t see him as a future star, but I do think there is a real path if his development continues in Hamilton next season and beyond. Right now, he has enough in his game to project as a possible middle-six winger if everything comes together. The next step is proving he can keep improving on the details as the game speeds up.
There is still a lot of work to be done before he gets to that point, but I think his competitiveness gives Finley a chance to carve out a role on this team some day.

9. Daniil Prokhorov
Daniil Prokhorov is very likely the biggest boom-or-bust prospect in the Islanders system.
He’s huge, menacingly physical, and has some tools you simply can’t teach. Listed at 6’6” and 218 pounds, he brings size that the Islanders desperately need.
The reason he sits at #9 instead of higher is that his development path has been a little chaotic. He bounced across multiple levels in Russia this past season, before the Islanders brought him over to Bridgeport late in the year.
At the highest level the offense wasn’t there yet and his defensive lapses were a big reason he saw little playing time in the KHL.
Then at the lower levels you got to see the flash he can bring to a game, some really impressive stuff, might I add. He’s not a flawed prospect, but there’s still plenty of development left before we know exactly what the Islanders have here.
If it all hits, he could become the winger of Islanders fans dreams: big, mean and flashy. The floor might be uncertain, but the ceiling is pretty high for Prokhorov.

10. Jacob Kvasnicka
Jacob Kvasnicka is really interesting because most 7th-round picks are usually just throwaway long-shots. To be fair, Kvasnicka still is a bit of a long-shot, but his production has completely changed the conversation around him.
The Islanders picked him 202nd overall last season, and he answered with a monster year in the WHL. He put up 35 goals and 85 points in 65 game and kept that production rolling for Penticton in the playoffs.
He’s not the biggest guy at 5’11”, but he plays a reliable two-way game pace with pace and confidence. There’s real offensive instinct in his game and it shows.
He still has to prove how much of that offense sticks with him as the game quickens and space shrinks. That’s always the question with junior players, but when a 7th-rounder produces like this, he earns the attention coming his way.
I’m taking the upside bet with Kvasnicka.
The #Isles 2025 draft class will be the turning point for this team.
Just about every player on this list impressed this season. Some real solid resumes already.

Put it in the books.
@XFactor3kze He has some Blake elements to his game for sure. I think he translates well to the college game and we get a better picture of him next year.
@PizzaSportsGuy Witout question, next year is the test. Just loving the noise around him, well deserved. His coaches just rave about him doing everything the right way. The parts to his game that stand out are the most translatable so it’ll be interesting to watch him in Minnesota next year.
@19consecutive Trying to temper expectations on him so I don’t get overly excited but if he plays well in the NCAA next year we might really have something here
Matthew and Brady Tkachuk share their thoughts on Kashawn Aitcheson from their most recent episode of the @Wingmenpod:
"And that Kashawn kid, he's a good player too... he's unreal. He was a 1st rounder to the island. And he's a beast. He hits, I've seen the highlights."
