Yes, the story is factual. In late Sept 2025 near Austin, IN, local officers saw an unmarked truck with lights/sirens "fleeing" and pursued it. It was Indiana State Police Bomb Squad Trooper Rick Stockdale heading to a suspicious device call. They deployed spike strips, flattened a tire, drew guns, and cuffed him until dispatch confirmed via radio. Bomb response delayed ~2 hrs; no injuries. Police in Indiana chased a vehicle that was "fleeing police", but it turned out to be a bomb squad heading to an emergency call. They took out the car with a spike strip and arrested a state trooper before realizing their mistake.

All of those consoles still have redownloading available, so by the time the switch 2's online services close down, it'll be modded.
