@sean_tougher You’re right that benefits come from being an inter county player, but I think they put in a lot more than they get back. Training 5-6 times a week to a professional level, missing out on nights out with friends etc all while working a regular 9-5. The dedication is admirable

I’m a big hurling fan, and this is the most boring, false shite on earth. He likely has a cushy job given by a sponsor, a free car, expenses paid for training and all his meals paid for. Nobody playing county in any medium/large counties are doing it for nothing.

@McCarthyMick Ridiculous argument. Premier league games kick off every Saturday at 12, 3 & 5:30, fans manage to make it. Champions league games midweek in different countries, fans still make it. If a hurling fan can’t make it to Dublin for 3pm on a Saturday then the problem is with them

For all the talk about David Clifford he was totally anonymous when the chips were down in that second half. He kicked a point to put them 2 ahead at the death but for the 30 minutes beforehand when they were chasing it he was invisible. This MOTM award is a joke. #DervKer

@laughinglashes @gavreilly He took a pay cut from his work for RTE. He then received a contract to host a number of roadshows for Renault at different Renault branches, bringing attention, publicity and advertisement to the Renault brand. Obviously they paid him for his service, what’s the issue?

@gavreilly I don't think this is going to wash at all at the Oireachtas Committees. He and his agent sought extra payments from RTE - payments that he must have known would subsequently be concealed from public view, so as to give the impression that took a larger % pay-cut than he did.
