Nope. Welcome to where game design meets business. If they have fail states, that means you need to make dynamic audio adjustments to the licensed soundtrack. This requires negotiation and a higher budget. It's far easier and cheaper just to have game run automatically so the track syncs with what's happening on screen. Even giving the player control the character's movement like their speed would screw everything up. It isn't artistic. It's lazy, and the fact that so many "media critics" didn't catch this should tell you something.
