Oil has been compensated for to a large degree by imports from other sources and increased production. That is why prices have not gone up as much as they could have. Where as Australia is running out of fuel, we are not. You said “collapse”. I pointed out why this will not be so regarding the Strait.

The US is the top producer of crude oil. We aquire 2.5% of our petroleum needs via the Strait. China and India are feeling it, as well as Australia and to a lesser degree Europe. The impact on the US economy will not cause collapse. The deficit, interest owed China, fraud - this will cause collapse.
