@1darkblonde That is very sad… Could you maybe send me a personal message? I will give you some info about something to get to know more about your grandfather.

This is my grandad, Pvt Peter (Larry) Jansen who served with the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa, Perth Regiment. He first tried to enlist when he was 17yrs old. His third attempt was succesful and he became a messenger. #LestWeForget #RemembranceDay

@FR1908___ Definitely. He encountered difficulties upon returning and it fits what we now know as PTSD. He suffered nightmares his whole life sadly. We have some photos along with his uniform badges and medals. He received the standard issue.

@1darkblonde That is unfortunate! On the other hand, understandable since they have experienced terrible things at a such young age. After the war, they wanted to quickly forget that and get on with their lives. Do you still have some items from his wartime?

@FR1908___ Unfortunately, we don't know. He refused to say one word about it upon his return.

@citizenduffy @OttawaCitizen Given the wife's family has contacted you & @OttawaCitizen re this article & the accuracies I'm surprised this article is still up on the website. The man is being investigated by police for treatment of 'his wife', isn't he? Homeless bc he has no access to her money, right?

This man is not who he appears to be. The 'wife' is a friend's mother and he is being investigated for his treatment of her. Too bad the reporter didn't do their due deligence.

@Steve_of_Ottawa @ctvottawa Most govt employees work via servers and have a security fob/password, especially those working with secure/classfied info. Nothing is or should be stored on the computers at home. If an employee is doing that, they likely were doing it in the office too.

@IamHazelMay @ctvottawa Once again, your ignorance is showing. And you're comments make it clear you actually haven't learnt anything from those science people of yours.

@1darkblonde @ctvottawa Really? The word duh ended your world? I have spoken to and associate with a number of people with backgrounds in environmental science, for years. Took courses in it too, but if the word duh is too difficult for you, I don't want to threaten your fragility.

Residents are being asked to avoid the McCarthy Woods area and hydro corridors, bounded by Riverside Drive in the west and McCarthy Road in the east, this weekend while wildlife management operations are conducted. ottawa.ctvnews.ca/operations-und…

@IamHazelMay @ctvottawa I don't believe I said the issue was only in the city. Using 'duh' shows that you clearly aren't capable of having a proper discussion, one you could actually learn from. When you feel you can talk civilly from someone with a background in environmental science, let me know.

@1darkblonde @ctvottawa Where? Oh, you think coyotes are only an issue in the city? They're coming out in rural areas too... right near the forest, out in plain sight... because they're over-populated. Duh.

@IamHazelMay @ctvottawa Their habitat has become suburban neighbourhoods & bedroom communities instead of fields & forests. Another area habitat is now a massive construction project, ripping out the trees & green space, forcing all wildlife residing there into backyards. Where do you want them, zoos?

@1darkblonde @ctvottawa It's not kindness not to manage wildlife. City people never get it. If the coyote numbers are so big they can get enough food, your "kindness" condemns many to die slowly by starvation. They're not staying in their habitat. They're attacking people on residential streets.

@IamHazelMay @ctvottawa As someone with a geoscience degree I understand how numbers will naturally increase & decrease with food availability and environmental factors. Human interference does not always have positive outcomes. In this situation coyote numbers are not the issue; people are the problem.

@ShawnMenard1 Not surprisingly, she doesn't walk the talk. We never see her around the ward and she was MIA for her constituents after the derecho went through. She's full of nothing but BS.

There's a bear on the trail at Old Quarry Trail (P5) so be alert and give it the space it requires, or maybe change you plans altogether. @NCC_CCN

@NCC_CCN Thanks. Luckily we met a family who had just met it & it seems the bear was content in staying where it was. It didn't intend to move away or follow the family & us as we turned around. Most ppl we told going in turned around.
