What's up next? More Basketball, of course! And more Missouri Milestones! I have been saying that and much, much more. And it's true. Before I tell you what's in store for the Spring and Summer, please repost this and also share it with your friends who specialize on the Spring sports. All of those coaches, players, and fans will want to experience what is ahead! Missouri Milestones is a never ending project. It's not one sport or one year. It's 365, forever. As I said, never ending. There are more Basketball postseason awards to celebrate. And then there will be a final series of Top Ten lists. And also, our first nudge into NAIA and Community College competition. Also starting? The Spring seasons have already begun. We will have coverage, commensurate with participation, of six sports. I have my rosters built of Missourian competing in the NCAA in six sports. How many? Baseball = 697. Softball = 310. Women's Lacrosse = 87. Men's Lacrosse = 64. Men's Volleyball = 55. Beach Volleyball = 39. That totals to 1,252 Missourians competing in those sports at the NCAA level. This work will be new to many baseball, softball, lacrosse and volleyball fans. A group of 4th graders went to every high school basketball game to cheer the team on, so the high schoolers showed up to the kids’ game to return the favor

Big thanks to @MSHSAARuk for joining us yesterday and explaining the ridiculous attack the organization is under calling for our state government to take over running a 100-year MSHSAA organization that actually IS run by its 724 member schools. Digging deeper, it's no coincidence that this push is coming from two rural legislators from the Bootheel and Texas county whose schools (Cooter boys basketball and the scorekeeping incident in the state basketball quarterfinals, Houston girls volleyball and their DQ from the playoffs after players competed in a charity volleyball event while in-season) were involved in situations that led to appeals turned away by MSHSAA in the past three years. I don't always agree with MSHSAA's decisions and rulings, but I also fully believe that a system that has worked for 100 years doesn't need to be blown up and then run by our government, which has enough to do simply trying to run our state. An independent, state-appointed appeals board is the most logical solution, and one that MSHSAA officials were willing to accept ... that's the way this should end.
