Moving Averages: The Only Indicator I Truly Trust If I had to pick just one indicator for life? ➡️ It would be the moving averages. Simple, practical and extremely powerful. They are the backbone of my entire system. 🔹 11 EMA - Fast trend and swing entries 🔹 21 EMA - Best for pullback structure 🔹 51 EMA - Bigger trend support and deeper reset 🔹 11 WEMA - Core investing trend filter Most indicators help in one or two areas. EMAs help across the full chain. And that is why I trust them more than anything else. and when you combine them with price action, volume and fundamentals, they become incredibly powerful. Let’s break it down 👇 1. Trend Detection The slope tells the story. 📈 Rising 11 EMA / 21 EMA / 51 EMA = strength 📈 Rising 11 WEMA = strong long-term trend 📉 Flat or falling averages = caution 📉 Price below key averages = weakness You do not need to overcomplicate it. If the EMAs are rising and price is respecting them, trend is healthy. 2. Stock Selection EMAs are not just for entry and exit. They are also useful for selecting the right stocks. What I prefer: ✅ Price above 51 EMA ✅ 11 EMA above 21 EMA and 21 EMA above 51 EMA ✅ Add ADR% and MCAP filter to increase Quality This immediately tells me the stock is under demand. 3. Entry Timing My favorite setups usually form around the moving averages. ✅ Pullback to 11 EMA in strong momentum stocks ✅ Pullback to 21 EMA in a healthy trend (This is Gold) ✅ NR3 NR5 or inside bars near the averages ✅ Reversal candle around 51 EMA ✅ Volume dries up Align these EMA with Base Structure, Pocket Pivot and Right Side Tightness 4. Stop Loss & Risk Control Moving averages help define where the trade is wrong. ✅ Entry near 11 EMA = Place SL Just under 11 EMA ✅ Entry near 21 EMA = Place SL Just under 21 EMA ✅ SL should never be > than 7% Use EMAs as a zone, then combine it with candle low or swing low. 5. Exits Made Simple No fancy logic to exit needed. Trailing simple EMAs & keeps process clean. Rule of thumb: 📉 Candle Close below 11 EMA = Partial Sell exit 📉 Candle Close below 21 EMA = Sell Completely 📉 Close below 11 WEMA on weekly = Warning sign for core positions 6. Position Sizing When the setup is tight around the moving averages, I can size up. That means: ✅ Clear structure ✅ Small stop loss ✅ Better reward-to-risk ✅ Higher conviction Typical framework: 🔹 25–30% allocation in swing trade 🔹 3–4% stop loss 🔹 ~1% portfolio risk max Tight structure gives confidence to allocate in right market 7. Extension Analysis EMAs are very useful for spotting when a stock is too stretched. If price is: Say 25%+ above 21 EMA (India) = extremely extended 30%+ above 21 EMA (US) = extremely extended 8. Core Investing Discipline For core investing, 11WEMA is extremely important. Why? Because daily charts create too much noise. That is why for core positions, I focus more on: ✅ Weekly trend ✅ 11 WEMA slope ✅ Price respect on weekly closes This helps me stay in big winners longer and avoid selling too early. 9. It Keeps Me Out of Noise This is one of the biggest benefits. If price is not respecting the averages, I am usually not interested. No random guessing. No unnecessary noise. Just structure, flow and discipline.
