What would Roger Denny say to those who are upset Porter Moser is coming back?
Denny told the Dari Nowkhah Show:
“To the folks that say Porter needs to go, I would love to see someone tell me how spending somewhere between six and 10 million dollars on transaction costs, that never find their way into making our program better. How that’s going to have more return on investment, than taking our resources and going out and adding more talent in our staff and in our roster.”

Denny is sending a message not just to Porter Moser and the OU fanbase but to all of the coaching candidates he will be interviewing if Moser does ultimately have to be replaced; on Denny's watch they will not be made a scapegoat for the administration's failures.
That's the definition of leading from the front.

On top of how we resource our program, it’s critical our fans show out for our team. I’ve seen firsthand the difference community support of college basketball can make. A bigger and louder crowd, a true home-court advantage, and a zealous fan base are all essential to our success.

Denny clearly believes resource limitations, not coaching, is the root of the issue. The results will speak for themselves in 2026-27, but the rationale makes plenty of sense.

NEWS: Oklahoma Atheltic Director Roger Denny tells ESPN that Porter Moser will return to the Sooners next year. They met this morning and spoke about building the program for 2026-27, including increased resources throughout the program and specifically NIL for players.

This morning, I met with the ownership of the property at 2800 S. Council in Southwest Oklahoma City. The owners are not residents of Oklahoma and this is the only property they own in Oklahoma City.
The owners of the property at 2800 S. Council confirmed to me this morning that they are no longer engaged with the Department of Homeland Security about a potential acquisition or lease of this property.
I commend the owners for their decision and thank them on behalf of the people of Oklahoma City.
As Mayor, I ask that every single property owner in Oklahoma City exhibit the same concern for our community in the days ahead.
