@ThomHetheringto @_thebroadchare If I remember correctly, when they gave us a star for Queen St, in’92; we were, along with Roscoff in Belfast, the only starred city centre restaurants outside of London. Look at how the restaurant landscape has changed in ‘provincial’ cities. Have faith Thom, it’ll come.

2/4 In the latest list I think (quick skim) 7 places are in London, and only 1 - @21HG's excellent @_thebroadchare - is in a Northern city. Why is this? Northern cities have great restaurants, and great drinking pubs. It seems insane that we don't have more great dining pubs.

1/4 Fact: Northern cities need more *great* gastropubs. Serious dining pubs, the sort of places where you can have a pint at the bar but which could also trouble @Top50Gastropubs. Pubs are my fave places to eat, but why don't we have more places of high ambition/quality up here?

@21HG I’ve got the Broad Chare scotch egg recipe and wanted to make some this weekend. However the recipe is incomplete (see stage 9)! How long do I deep fat fry them?
