@300BearHeads There’s a tactile element to playing vinyl that is unique and it also pushes the listener into sitting through whole albums rather than just playlists.

@wyahaw Andy, the online booking app for dinner at The Ritz appears to require diners choose in advance whether they want the alc or one of the two tasting menus. Seems a bit odd, has it been like that for a while?

A beautiful song to see out what has been a rotten year personally for health. The wonderful @ianshawjazz with a song written by one of Britain’s finest singer songwriters, Clive Gregson. youtu.be/xEEYH32eY2k

@300BearHeads Same to you Paul. Unfortunately I’m down with Covid, which I didn’t really need having spent nine nights in the RVI this month with a blood infection.

The last ten years have seen a dramatic change in my wine drinking from mainly red to white. I assumed this was a product of age and also eating less red meat. I now realise it is simply that a lot of reds, including many I’ve always enjoyed, have become increasingly super rich..

..and ripe at the expense of acidity. Presumably climate change has had an impact and perhaps there’s increasing demand from younger drinkers for this style. Even many of the Beaujolais I’ve enjoyed previously seem to be increasingly heavy.

@TonyMinvielle A great album, although my favourite of theirs is Chain Reaction. Sample was a great keyboards man.

Day 1 of 12 of my xmas vinyl warmers bringing back memories of xmases past - ‘Crusaders - Free as The Wind’ 1977 After making the transition from straight ahead to jazz funk this album beautifully showcases the serious genius of Sample, Felder, Hooper and Popwell #tmonsunday

@kopwas Yes, I suspected that. Not surprised at the pricing but the lack of care does.

@kopwas Hmm…brain working overtime to work out where that is. I reckon I might know but if so it seems out of character except for the pricing.

For me this represents pretty much the definitive art of the piano trio. Keith Jarrett, GaryPeacock and Jack DeJohnette at the peak of their abilities with an almost telepathic ability to communicate with each other. #jazz

Couldn't believe use of that particular p-word when I read it (trying, and failing, to think of a clever way to link it to the mid-terms)
Gavin Quinney@GavinQuinney

@AnneCBurchett @JancisRobinson ‘…sommelier based in NYC said that using a tap rather than a corkscrew lacked gravitas, but boxes had a place. “Anything under $20-30 a bottle should be available in alternative packaging because it’s not that serious in the first place,” he said. “It’s a proletariat-style wine”

The English translations of announcements on RENFE are done by lady with a very gentle Newcastle accent. Really not what I expected to hear. There's something quite soothing about it.

I've lost count of how many prime ministers this little beauty from @YappAboutWine has survived. But no more. It's about to meet its end.

@GeordieRob_B @primevideouk Just as bizarrely, the actual match was running one minute behind the same game being screened on the channel showing Every Match Every Goal. That was really confusing as I had the latter running on my iPad and the game on my tv.

If I could watch the match on a speak and spell it would probably still be a better quality picture than @primevideouk #nufc
