WHEN IT'S TIME TO LET GO.
Don't spend too much energy trying to decipher the hidden motives behind someone's actions or words.
We often obsess over WHY someone did or said something, believing that if we understand their reasons, we will find peace.
But the truth is, we don't always know. We can't always know their motives, their reasons, or the unconscious pain that drives their behavior.
And often, they may not even know it themselves.
They may be a mystery even to themselves: lost in their own unconscious impulses, entangled in unresolved traumas, wandering in the shadows of their own mind.
When someone’s behavior confuses you, it’s very tempting to fill in the blanks: projecting your own assumptions on them, seeking explanations, trying to find that elusive sense of closure.
Sometimes this can be a valuable exercise, even compassionate.
But there's a dark side:
You can end up overanalyzing, caught up in endless speculation, entangled in emotional drama that doesn't suit you, and losing yourself in the process.
It's very easy to sacrifice your own clarity and peace for a desperate search for explanations.
Compassion is beautiful, of course. Trying to understand the difficulties of others, trying to "decipher" their confused behaviours, is deeply human.
But compassion has limits.
There's a thin line between seeing someone's pain and excusing, or even allowing, their harmful behavior.
When you continuously try to have compassion for their decisions, when you witness their suffering but set no boundaries, when you don't raise your voice, you can easily cross that line.
You can end up offering them so much love that you forget to take care of yourself. But their healing is not your responsibility. They are responsible for their actions, as are you responsible for your own well-being.
So what can you do instead?
Observe. Listen. Let your actions and words speak for themselves. Your job is not to untangle someone else's inner world. Your job is to understand yourself, to protect your own peace, and to love fervently, but without losing yourself in the process.
Compassion means caring, but without carrying what does not belong to you.
It means to stay open, but without abandoning you.
And that means allowing others to be responsible for their own healing, just as you are responsible for your own.
Sometimes the most compassionate thing is to step in, of course.
But other times, the most loving thing you can do... is to let go.
And let them face themselves.

You fast, but Satan does not eat. You labor fervently, but Satan never sleeps. The only dimension with which you can outperform Satan is by acquiring humility, for Satan has no humility.
