People are suffering, temperatures are increasing, biodiversity is declining. Some people say we sound alarmist. Well, we are alarmed. But we are not paralysed by it. We are demanding action. Time for EU governments to stop their petty arguments and take real climate action.

If Scotland is building an international case for democratic legitimacy, Northern Ireland is the keystone. Why The GFA is not domestic UK law it is an international treaty This is the critical difference. The Good Friday Agreement was negotiated between the UK and Ireland was endorsed by referendums North and South was incorporated into international treaty law and was registered with the United Nations under Article 102 of the UN Charter ☮️🤔🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🌎⚖️ That means.. the UK cannot unilaterally reinterpret it the UK cannot override it without breaching international law the UN has standing to examine compliance Ireland has standing to challenge breaches the USA is a guarantor and has political leverage 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🌎⚖️☮️🤔 No other part of the UK has this level of international protection. The GFA explicitly guarantees the right of self determination This is not vague ruling The GFA states the people of Northern Ireland have the right to choose their constitutional future the UK must act with “rigorous impartiality” the UK must legislate for a border poll when conditions are met the UK must respect democratic consent ⚖️☮️🌎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤔 If Westminster overrides devolved authority in NI, it is not just a constitutional issue it is a treaty breach. Treaty breaches are not internal matters. They are international legal violations. 🤔🌎☮️⚖️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 If Scotland claims the Union is broken, NI’s position makes the claim exponentially stronger Here’s why. Scotland’s argument The Union is a treaty (1707). Westminster has breached it. Sovereignty reverts to the people. This is a constitutional argument. Northern Ireland’s argument The GFA is an international treaty. Westminster has breached it. The UN, Ireland, and the USA have standing. This is an international legal argument. When combined, they reinforce each other. Scotland shows the Union is broken internally. Northern Ireland shows the UK is breaking international law externally. That is a devastating combination for Westminster. 🌎☮️⚖️🤔🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The USA’s role makes NI uniquely powerful The United States is a formal guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement. If the UK breaches the GFA, the US State Department intervenes Congress intervenes Irish American political networks intervene the EU intervenes (because Ireland is a member) This is why NI is the UK’s weakest constitutional point. Scotland and Wales can embarrass the UK. Northern Ireland can internationally corner the UK. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚖️☮️🌎🤔 If Scotland, Wales, and NI jointly claim democratic breakdown, NI’s GFA status makes the claim credible A joint declaration to the UN would be powerful on its own. But with NI involved, it becomes a claim of internal democratic collapse a claim of treaty breach a claim of international law violation a claim backed by Ireland a claim watched closely by the USA a claim the EU cannot ignore 🌎☮️⚖️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤔 This is not symbolic. It is structurally dangerous for the UK. Could NI’s position accelerate Scottish independence? Indirectly, yes. Because if the UK is found to be. breaching the GFA undermining democratic consent overriding devolved authority then the UK’s international legitimacy is damaged. And legitimacy is the foundation of statehood. If the UK loses legitimacy, Scotland’s case for self determination becomes stronger. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚖️☮️🌎🤔 The bottom line Northern Ireland has the strongest legal case of the three devolved nations because the GFA is an international treaty lodged with the UN. If Westminster breaches it, the UK is in violation of international law. If Scotland claims the Union is broken, NI’s treaty based position gives that claim international weight. If all three devolved governments act together, the UK faces a legitimacy crisis it cannot easily contain. I rest my case your honour. 🌎☮️⚖️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤔😄

Unpopular opinion: The main reason we complain about the heat so much during warm weather is that we're kinda retarded at managing our homes with it. I walked down my street around 11pm last night and almost none of the houses had their windows open to vent warm air. Walked again this morning and all the south facing windows had their curtains wide open, letting all of the heat pour in. Basic heat management like this is standard in warm countries, but virtually unknown in Britain, and makes a huge difference to the temperature inside the house.

I know it will be Matt Lucas who plays the part of Murrell in the Netflix special, but I’m struggling to think who casting directors might give the ‘Nicola’ role to?

Gillian Mackay - Scottish Greens
There is a clear pro-independence majority in Scotland’s Parliament, elected democratically by the people of Scotland. Unionist parties should respect that mandate and stop blocking Scotland’s right to choose our own future.

Nicola Sturgeon passed her driving test aged 53. Her schedule and work life had stood in the way of her doing something as normal as learning to drive. Is it really THAT unimaginable that her and her husband had become so distant and estranged that they didn’t “socialise” or go on holiday? If you ask me, this is a tragic state of affairs. The party money was stolen. Not tax payer public funds. Party money. SNP members are the victim of this fraud, but at the heart of the story is a woman who was possibly living in a challenging, and potentially dysfunctional marriage, who was betrayed.

Alex is no longer with us sadly, Nicola is no longer in politics, her ex is in a cell for embezzling SNP money. That's the past. Let the unionists and the media rattle marbles in a can. Independence is in front of us, it always has been, and that's all that interests me.
