Soft parenting is the reason why kids are so disrespectful and weak nowadays. We’re raising a generation of brats because parents are too scared to give a real lesson. My older son made a mess of my tools and spilled paint everywhere so I made him face the wall for 10 minutes. My wife started an argument with me and said I should be soft with him because he’s a child. We’re not doing them any favors by being soft because they’ll never learn how to follow a simple rule. It’s better to face a wall for a few minutes than to get hit with a belt like I used to. If you just let kids do whatever they want, they grow up to be spoiled brats who expect everything for free. I want my son to listen to me and know there are consequences in this house. You’re failing your children if you think being their friend is more important than being their parent. Good luck dealing with your kids when they’re older and still have no respect for your home.

@Wallstreet1975 @TolleEnthusiast And opening day will be high intensity. And key games late in the season will be high intensity. And playoff games will be high intensity. There’s always a risk of injury. He also just got paid $32 mil. He’s gonna be ok. Dude needs to sack up and pitch for team USA

I'm not how some can't comprehend the difference between throwing a spring training game and a high pressure WBC playoff game. The tax on the arm is significantly different. I would love to see all the top players play, but I understand pitchers being hesitant. Especially in Skubal's situation. That's before even mentioning he has already had elbow surgery and a rough start to his career, injury wise. Its easy to criticize from the couch.

I’m sorry but the whole “he might get injured before his $400M payday” argument just isn’t moving me. Why are we acting like pitching 4–5 innings in the WBC instead of Spring Training is suddenly going to break him before a 200-inning season? I just don’t buy it.

I really like Nolan McLean, but there’s absolutely no reason Tarik Skubal shouldn’t be starting the championship tmr. Guys like Julio Rodríguez are saying their country means more than their MLB team, while Skubal is worried about pushing his start back a day.

🚨 She absolutely nails the HYPOCRISY of the Left! “They call you a fascist for wanting secure borders, while they create safe spaces to keep out anybody that they don't agree with. They preach about climate change while flying around in their private jets. They warn you about election interference from foreign countries, while fighting against voter ID laws that would prevent it. They promote body positivity, unless you're on the other side, then they'll mock you for your weight. They say that you're intolerant, yet shut down and ban any speaker that disagrees with them. And they'll say that you're racist, while simultaneously saying that people of color and minorities are too dumb to get IDs to vote. They took religion out of schools claiming indoctrination, but drag queen story hour is fine. And they'll call you a science denier, yet men can be women. And they'll go to No Kings protests, forgetting that their party didn't throw a primary in the twenty twenty-four election. They'll call Trump and his administration dictators, like they didn't make people walk around with vaccine cards for years. So please tell me again how liberalism is not a mental illness. Tell me again how the Democratic Party isn't the party of fascism. I'll wait.”

Last night in Times Square, they turned the damn crossroads of the world into an open-air mosque for prayers. If a bunch of Christians tried shutting down Times Square for a massive public revival or even a Christmas service that big, the media would lose their minds, calls for "separation of church and state" would be deafening, and the cops would shut it down fast. But this? Total silence from the tolerance crowd. Hypocrisy on fcking steroids. This is America—our Constitution, our values, our way of life. Not your mission field or takeover playground. Keep your street prayers in your friggin mosques. We don't need this crap in the middle of NYC. America First. Wake up, people. 🇺🇸🐘

A rare day just happened. Lent, the Chinese Lunar New Year and Ramadan all happened on the same day for the first time since 1863 Oregon Democrat Governor Tina Kotek made the following posts on her Facebook: - Celebrating Ramadan (There’s 40k Muslims in Oregon) - Celebrating Chinese Lunar New Year (There’s 60k Chinese in Oregon) - No posts of the Christian/ Catholic holiday Lent (There’s 450,000 Catholics just in the western part of Oregon alone) “When the leftists say inclusivity, they mean everybody but you.” They mean replacing you

@maggie_lucy_ @tyromper While I appreciate the sentiment, I do think you could have spoken to the waitress and tried to help her out. Knowing she’s new and made a mistake, I would have used it as a teachable moment in a positive way (that’s the teacher in me). Not everyone would be as nice as you

It’s possible to remain happy and content while politely asking for your soup and drink. I like your thought process but asking for those things is not “angry” nor does it have to spoil the evening. Yes, there are many things one can let go of but this isn’t necessary. Mistakes are made often by others, becoming a doormat or being angry aren’t the only options.

My wife & I went to dinner last night. I could tell right away our waitress was new & nervous. I got my entree & it wasn't what I ordered. I never got the soup I ordered. My wife's drink showed up after dinner. I didn't send the food back, complain about not getting soup, or whine about my wife's drink. I said to my wife my hearts so full of gratitude to be at a dinner with you (who I love so much after 12 years) while our kids are at their grandparents that love them so much -- I just can't complain about anything. If the worst thing that happens today is I ate chicken Alfredo instead of Mediterranean chicken & saved calories not getting soup..... I live an extremely blessed life. Years ago, I would have been angry about this. I would have GIVEN AWAY MY POWER & allowed it to ruin the night. Instead, I said to my wife (taking extreme ownership) it's my bad I'll point to my item next time & ensure we have it right. We tipped well & left. Gratitude is a CHOICE. Being KIND is a CHOICE. Being peaceful is a CHOICE. I'm at a place in my life I can't fathom letting minor inconvenience destroy my peace. I recommend you get to this place too. 1) Lots of internal work. 2) Lots of gratitude. 3) Lots of Jesus. Is my formula. Life's pretty good here. Go have a blessed day & don't allow minor inconveniences to derail your peace & joy!

"Why does our top performer get the worst reviews?" the boss asked. I was reviewing their annual performance data. "Show me," I said. She pulled up the ratings. Diana: 2.8 out of 5. Below average on "collaboration." Low marks for "team player." "What's her actual performance?" I asked. "Exceeded every target. Landed our biggest client. Trained three new hires." "So why the low scores?" "Her peer reviews are dragging her down." I scanned the comments. "Too direct." "Challenges ideas too much." "Not supportive enough." "Let me talk to Diana," I said. "I used to give honest feedback," Diana told me. "Said our pricing model was broken. Got dinged for 'negativity.'" "What happened with the pricing?" "They finally fixed it six months later. After we lost two major accounts." "What else?" "I questioned why we needed eleven approvals for a simple contract change. Manager said I wasn't being collaborative." "Are you still giving feedback?" "No. I learned my lesson. Now I smile. Nod. Say everything's great. My reviews are improving." "But nothing's actually improving?" "We're making the same mistakes. Just with better vibes." She chuckled. I went back to the boss. "Your review system doesn't measure performance," I said. "It measures compliance." "That's not true." "When was the last time someone got promoted for challenging bad ideas?" Silence. "When did someone get rewarded for preventing a mistake?" More silence. "You've trained your best people to stay quiet. And your mediocre people to stay nice." A few months later, they redesigned the system. Added a category: "Constructive Challenge." Points for identifying problems early. Rewards for preventing costly mistakes. Diana got promoted. "What changed?" I asked the boss. "We stopped confusing agreement with alignment. Stopped mistaking silence for harmony." "And?" "Turns out our 'difficult' people were our most valuable. They actually cared enough to speak up." Here's the truth about performance reviews: Most companies don't reward performance. They reward performance theater. The person who says the meeting was great beats the person who says it wasted an hour. The person who agrees with bad ideas beats the person who prevents disasters. You think you're measuring contribution. You're measuring conformity. And your best people? They've already figured out the game. They're just deciding whether to play it or find somewhere that values truth over comfort.

@CHItownHustla15 @FullCountTommy Good point, but brings up an even deeper issue. Why did the Cubs trade for him in the first place? They definitely missed something when scouting him imo if this is the take on Tucker

I'm paraphrasing, but Jed Hoyer mentioned he & the Cubs felt truly comfortable giving that big deal to Alex Bregman for not only the player he is on the field, but how great of a human he is off the field. He carries himself well and they know he's committed. Tucker never showed an ounce of that. Makes sense now.

@dan_themandan @Michael_Cerami This guy has big time stuff, and when he’s in he’s completely dominant. If the Cubs can make a tweak or two, as they’ve been shown to do, he’s a top of the rotation type guy. It’s a good trade both for this year and future years since he’s under team control

It’s wild that it’s become normal to leave your kids at daycare five days a week, eight hours a day, just so you can go to a job that mainly pays for daycare, the car to get there, and a house you’re rarely home to enjoy. We’re stuck in a cycle of working just to afford a life we barely get to live.

Wise words “My name’s Frank. I’m 64, a retired electrician. Forty-two years I spent running wires through houses, fixing breakers, making sure people had light in their kitchens and heat in their winters. Never once did anyone ask me where I went to college. Mostly, they just wanted to know if I could get the power back on before their ice cream melted. Last May, I was at my granddaughter Emily’s school career day. You know the drill — doctors, lawyers, a software guy in a slick suit talking about “scaling startups.” I was the only one there with a tool belt and work boots. When it was my turn, I told the kids, “I don’t have a degree. I’ve never sat in a lecture hall. But I’ve wired schools, hospitals, and your principal’s house. And when the hospital generator failed during a snowstorm in ’98, I was the one in the basement with a flashlight, keeping the lights on for newborn babies upstairs.” The kids leaned forward. They had questions — real ones. “How do you fix stuff in the dark?” “Do you make a lot of money?” “Do you ever get zapped?” (Yes, once, and it’ll curl your hair.) When the bell rang, one boy hung back. Small kid, freckles, hoodie too big for him. He mumbled, “My uncle’s a plumber. People laugh at him ’cause he didn’t finish high school. But… he’s the only one in the family who can fix anything.” I looked that boy in the eye and said, “Kid, your uncle’s a hero. When your toilet overflows at midnight, Harvard ain’t sending anyone. A plumber is.” Here’s the thing nobody told me when I was young — the world doesn’t run without tradespeople. You can have all the engineers you want, but if nobody builds the house, wires the power, or lays the pipes, those blueprints just sit in a drawer. We’ve made it sound like trades are what you do if you can’t go to college, instead of a path you choose because you like working with your hands, solving problems, and seeing your work stand solid for decades. Four years after high school, some kids walk away with diplomas. Others walk away with zero debt, a union card, and a skill they can take anywhere in the world. And guess what? When your furnace dies in January, it’s not the diploma that saves you. A few weeks ago, that same freckled kid’s mom stopped me at the grocery store. She said, “You probably don’t remember, but you told my son trades are important. He’s shadowing his uncle this summer. First time I’ve seen him excited about anything in years.” That’s the part we forget — for some kids, knowing their path is respected changes everything. It’s not about “just” fixing wires or pipes. It’s about pride. Purpose. The kind that sticks with you long after the job’s done. So next time you meet a teenager, don’t just ask, “Where are you going to college?” Ask, “What’s your plan?” And if they say, “I’m learning to weld,” or “I’m starting an apprenticeship,” smile big and say, “That’s fantastic. We’re going to need you.” Because we will. More than ever. And when the lights go out, you’ll be glad they showed up.”
