In it, he makes a shocking admission: the U.S. is not just losing the war — it is suffering a total, irreversible defeat, the consequences of which "cannot be corrected or ignored." "This will be a defeat of an entirely different nature. It cannot be corrected or ignored. The Strait of Hormuz will not be 'opened' as it once was," Kagan writes. According to the author, despite 37 days of strikes, the destruction of leadership and military infrastructure, Iran has not capitulated. And when Tehran retaliated against U.S. strikes by attacking the Qatari gas complex Ras Laffan, Donald Trump backed down and halted the bombings. Experts estimate that the damage from the Iranian attack will take years to recover from. Kagan's main conclusion: "With control over the strait, Iran becomes a key player in the region and one of the key players in the world. The roles of China and Russia, as allies of Iran, are strengthened; the role of the U.S. is significantly diminished." Kagan warns that the debacle in Iran has exposed America's weakness, depleted its military reserves, and accelerated the onset of a "post-American world." This could push Xi Jinping to take action against Taiwan and prompt Russia to reassess the balance of power in Europe. "The conflict has revealed an America that is unreliable and unable to finish what it started. This will trigger a chain reaction around the world," Kagan writes.

Very good read — I would only add that the Daily Wire also suffered in the end from a Ben Shapiro problem. Any plan to save the company would have had to include him stepping away as the public face of it. That’s just the reality. His brand has become toxic to growth.
