@carebearkieran “He won the Sugar Bowl is what he did! He was a brave Longhorn quarterback. And in this house, Sam Ehlinger is an elite college QB— end of story.”

@daveweigel I don’t know why Democratic politicians are so stupid. With all of those cameras there, he should have gone in that restaurant and ordered the most unabashedly Texas thing on the menu. Totally unforced error.

@DastDn Yeah, that was the most on-the-ground I’ve been in a cycle and I was in the belly of the beast; Betomania was insane and organic. This is so DC.

I haven't been as (over)exposed to Talarico as I was to Beto during his mania. But from what I've seen, the idea that he's as strong of a candidate as as O'Rourke was seems far-fetched. He has his appeal, but Beto was very personable/charismatic. Talarico is much more low key.

@superballslarry Beto O’Rourke, at the age of 45, was a family man local high society lib with a wife of 13 years and three children. James Talarico, at the age of 37, is a lifelong bachelor with an apparent secret girlfriend.

The biggest difference between Beto and Talarico is that, until he opens his mouth, Beto looks like he could be a normal enough guy. One look at Talarico sets off an animal instinct to protect all the children in the area.

@ettingermentum Him calling Talarico vegan when he isn't, makes it very easy for Talarico to turn around say "I'm not vegan, but many Texans are being forced to go vegan right now because they can no longer afford meat thanks to this administrations illegal war and inflationary policies"

Why is everyone suddenly freaking out over Paxton calling Talarico gay when there’s no evidence so far that it’s worked, no evidence that it will work, and he hasn’t led a poll in five months
Faj@Faj1791

You just really wish that dems nominated some pro-business moderate named "Mark Gonzalez" at a time like this. Paxton would be the underdog if that were the case. Georgia and Arizona dems picked perfect candidates for their states with Warnock and Kelly, Tx dems are incompetent.

Today, we remember a legend. On this day in history, Harambe would have celebrated another birthday. An icon that became part of internet history, American culture, and an entire generation’s timeline. Tomorrow marks 10 years since we lost him. Ten years since the moment the world stopped scrolling and collectively mourned something bigger than a meme. He became a symbol of loyalty, strength, chaos, unity, and the strange beauty of the internet bringing millions of people together for one cause: never forgetting Harambe. Everyone remembers where they were when they heard the news. And somehow, a decade later, his legacy still lives on. Gone, but never forgotten. Rest easy to a true patriot. 🕊️🇺🇸 May 27, 1999 — May 28, 2016 Forever in our hearts.

@Faj1791 @Carloxxxx2 I mean Martha McSally was Doug Ducey’s dumbass plant that he ran with when he should’ve done it himself. Of course, AZ then lost with the populists, so great.

@LoewyLawFirm A garbage poll that puts the Dems’ national fixation at 45% and Abbott 48-44 is a race that ends with an Abbott blowout and a majority floor for Paxton.

@AmericaTex4ever I’d push the exact opposite for both of these here. Betomania was real. I lived that shit. There’s no Talafreakout. Everyone in 2018 knew who Ted was -and- they hated him. Ken Paxton isn’t a national figure. He’s genuinely more generic R than people give him credit for.

I see a lot of people already blowing off Talarico as weak and having no chance. Saying he’s Beto 2.0 Well Beto only lost to Cruz by 2% and Talarico is a better candidate than Beto. This is what I know: 1. Talarico isn’t Beto and a lot of people buy into his “aw-shucks” “preacher” bit 2. Paxton isn’t Cruz. Cruz was squeaky clean in comparison, Paxton has a lot of baggage that Talarico and the media will use. This is going to be a very close race and if Paxton can’t get independents to vote for him, we will lose the seat.
