Today we honor 81 years since D-Day. On June 6, 1944, nearly 160,000 Allied troops stormed Normandy; our predecessors, the 117th Infantry, landed days later on Omaha Beach. “I Volunteer, Sir!” lives on in the 278th ACR. Task Force Saber serves in Germany today. #DDay81

80 years ago today, our lineage unit, the 117th IR, 30th ID, began landing in Normandy, France. From June 14-19, 1944, they established themselves near the Normandy Beaches, later participating in major WWII campaigns. Their bravery and battle streamers continue to inspire us.
