@Riley_Mott is a first-class horseman. Many big wins ahead for he and his team.

‡ Albus! After the result of today's Wood Memorial at Aqueduct, the Riley Mott-trained Albus remains a very interesting, albeit now better known three-year-old colt. I wrote a post on him several weeks ago (linked below), and continue to believe that there is much more to come. x.com/Tinky47flat/st… He is, as discussed in that earlier post, a horse with a "salt and pepper" pedigree, meaning that he has a dissonant combination of speed and stamina in his pedigree. Luckily for his connections, he is clearly taking after his bottom-line, which is replete with stamina. Though not a horse with a quick acceleration, there is a lot to like about Albus, and the way that he is being managed. I see no reason why he won't take another step forward on the first Saturday in May.

I say it every year. Korn Ferry should have as many televised events as possible run Sun thru Wed like @BahamasKFTour is the next two weeks. Great way to market players, get gambling more involved, and get more people to watch. Let me get ahead of some of the things people push back on. 1. Ticket sales. Most KFT events have very few ticket sales, it’s not a revenue driver for most events. 2. Volunteers. Most volunteers are retired folks and the KFT need less than KFT events. Also if a club is hosting often their members rally behind the event and will pitch in. And to me, any challenges are offset by the marketing of players out here without any competition.

‡ Greener Pastures Down the Road? Tomorrow's 6th race at Keeneland is a 7f. MSW event for two-year-olds. There are a number of interesting looking first-starters, but Circle Tap, #11, trained by Dallas Stewart, caught my eye. Not for betting purposes, mind you, at least in this race, as he is listed at 3/1, having rallied to finish 2nd in each of his previous first two starts. To be clear, it wouldn't surprise me to see him win, but it was his pedigree that catalyzed me to delve a bit deeper. He is by Twirling Candy, a successful sire which is getting more than his fair share of turf performers. So, I decided to look up the performances of Circle Tap's first four dams, and found this: His dam, Rattataptap, though also effective on dirt while racing, won an allowance race on turf, and placed 2nd in a minor stakes at KY Downs on that surface. His second-dam, Sindy With an S, won a Listed stakes on the grass at Hollywood Park. His third-dam, Backroom Blues, won an allowance race on turf, and finished 4th in a minor stakes race on the same surface. His fourth-dam, Secret Holdings, never won a race, but placed twice in MSW races on turf, and was by Private Account, which was primarily a dirt influence. Beyond that, his dam, Rattataptap, appears to have produced four other foals to have raced. Coco Abarrio has placed 2nd in her only start on turf to date, and has finished first, while twice second, on synthetic surfaces. Soca's only win in three career starts was on an all-weather surface. Rattataptap's two other runners have performed on dirt, though neither is by what might be considered to be a turf sire. It is fully understandable why Circle Tap's connections would be focussed on dirt, at the moment, and perhaps the colt will develop into a good horse on that surface. But should his development stall, I would certainly be inclined to try him on the turf. And from a betting standpoint, he's an example of a horse that I would follow with some interest, based on the above reading of his pedigree.
