Hi everyone and welcome to Patch 14.11! Overall, the patch has landed reasonably balance wise for things that changed. Lane Swaps - They've been a hot topic of conversation over the course of MSI - While we think some of this was teams adapting to player matchup diffs over time, in some cases, it's more optimal than we'd like (eg. double ranged bot lanes) - While a few lane swaps every now and then is favorable for the viewer experience, every game is too far - We'll be adjusting the fortification and first turret gold values as a result K'Sante - K'Sante has also been a hot topic from MSI - While there have been some favorable matchups into him, he was generally not exploitable enough - In the short term, we're making some targeted changes to reduce just how much damage he can soak with W. We also intend to take a larger stab at some of his kit shape to give him sharper strengths and weaknesses, but that will take some time - Given that he has optionality between tanking and fighting, he probably also shouldn't be so generally durable Marksmen Generally - Marksmen after the changes to snowballing, experience are now at similar levels of durability to the durability patch - They also seem very strong, but we're waiting on more information before acting in a significant way - We intend to tune around this rough level of durability and nerf other things like damage, etc. if they are too strong Marksman First Items - Overall, Marksmen first items seems close - Kraken/Collector/ER/IE are all viable options of varying strength - We believe Collector and IE are a bit on the strong side and ER a little on the weak side - Shiv has struggled to find an audience, we're looking to move it further into the on-hit space and it is also pretty underpowered Post Hotfix - Our hotfix has overall put Blackfire Torch and Ashes in a reasonable spot - It is intended that Ashes is a strong item for AP junglers, hence why it was generically nerfed, rather than nerfing the jungle specifically - Draven was slightly overnerfed, but we expect him to recoup some of this power once players fully swap over to Bloodthirster Smolder - Smolder has landed in a bit of a weird spot; Tri Force overall is offering a bit of a better package than Essence Reaver overall - We would like Sheen items to be viable on him, and also to have some Crit builds and some non Crit builds Arena - Post 14.10 changes, we're mainly focused on taking larger swings at nerfing healing, buffing weak champions, nerfing fighters further - We're also taking a further swing at outlier legendary and prismatic items - Buffs targeted at Ekko, Fizz, LB, Corki [he had a bunch of Arena specific nerfs that no longer make sense], Viktor, Ziggs, Akshan - Nerfs targeted at Darius, Vi, Rhaast, Gragas, Garen, Trundle, Vlad, Aatrox, Briar ARAM - Main strategy is to remove buff/nerf modifiers that no longer make sense and followups to the 14.10 changes landing - Buffs to Corki, Ezreal, Yasuo, Yone, MF - Nerfs to Shen, Veigar, Akshan, Morgana, Nautrilus, Hwei, Skarner

13.22 Preview! Mage Attack Speed: For a while now, mages have been taking Attack Speed rune shard. While this is great that players love pushing/harassing, it is more indicative of mages' slow attack frames that have become pretty outdated over time and are an unnecessary barrier of entry to their satisfaction. We're going to be setting these Attack Speed values to what feels right first, such that the mages don't feel required to take the shard and then address any balance fallout after. We need to be careful about buffing ranged too much in the early game, especially against melee (and especially if they play top). If it ends up being quite a lot of power, we'll put back in that area. There are some mages whose attack frames are intentionally slow; eg. Karthus, Cassio because they have an auto attack replacement and we want them to use that, so we're not adjusting them as much. Janna: Janna's play experience has gotten less and less satisfying over time. We think a previous version of Janna that was more W oriented, with higher attack range and some more speed was more satisfying for her players. So we're reverting some of the recent changes and moving her back in that direction. Jungle Changes: No actual jungle changes this patch, but changes to champions within the jungle. Post AD ratio reversion to the jungle item, the balance of the role feels like in a good spot, as does its power level. Mundo, Rammus, Seraphine, Tahm: We swung a bit too far on these champions, especially Seraphine for solo lane. We're going to be reverting some of the changes for these champions (in Seraphine's case, potentially doing something else) Balance Outliers: The rest of the champions in this list either benefited directly from 13.20 (and follow up changes) from scaling (Senna, Kassadin, Nilah) or are just strong on the patch and need to be tapped down some. Brand: Brand changes are aimed at adding power to mid and jungle, but not adding any more to the support. Brand doesn't need to be much stronger in support, so the changes are targeted at mid/jg.

13.20 is a big patch. Patch Timing: We needed to weigh up the pros and cons of resolving some large issues that are affecting tens of millions of people everyday vs Pros having high quality practice on 13.20 for Worlds. Ultimately we decided to prioritize the regular player experience and while there's lots of changes on paper, we felt that they are mostly numbers changes for the Pro environment that will have some effect on practice, but overall don't feel like it will make practice redundant. Jungle: We're trying to still keep the fun things about the role intact while focusing on trimming power and complexity from the role that hopefully junglers don't mind being trimmed. They will still feel it to some extent, but jungle is quite an overpowered role on Live and we feel like we need to act. We're increasing jungle monster durability by quite a bit, but also increasing jungle item damage to monsters, to reduce the amount that camps are poached and also to slow down clears a bit in the early-midgame past the first clear. The intent is for junglers to spend a bit more time farming, but not so much that they're trapped in the jungle. We're also buffing the non-jungler starter items to gave laners a bit more of an advantage against early ganks. Anti-Snowball: Context for snowball stuff is in yesterday's post. We're trying to maintain the relative value of playing for dragons vs void monsters, but also reducing the punishment of early deaths by some amount. We're monitoring for teleport freezes actually benefiting the person who was killed and seeing how prevalent it will be. We're also nerfing plates as they are a moderate amount of snowball in the early game. Finally, runes are having more of their power put into bases rather than ratios, so they are more consistent and not double snowballing when players get ahead. Milio: We nerfed Milio as he was driving a lot of enchanter strength earlier in the season. We think we can give him a buff that aims to bolster his enchanter outputs. Morgana: Morgana is receiving changes to improve her jungling, while also increasing windows to play around her E CD. Morgana has lost a lot of purpose in the modern game, but still draws a high banrate due to Blitz bans, etc. that we don't think is tied to power. Bel'veth: These are changes to get her back out of fighter oriented builds and into more squishy builds. Also moving some of her power curve to be later game oriented. Kai'sa: Trying to push Kai'sa's early weaknesses a bit more by opening up her early matchups some. She is a bit more blind pickable than we want long term and we plan to continue to sharpen her matchups a bit. Quinn: A reduction in some of her early durability and ability to kite to allow champions to get on her early with all-in power when she's harrassing. K'Sante: This is a really big changelist, would check up Phreak's K'Sante section in his video for more extended context Duskblade/Ghostblade: As mentioned y'day, think Ghostblade is a bit weak and Duskblade a bit strong. Matching the two items' power a bit better Lord Dominicks: LDR is receiving a significant bugfix to its damage calculation and receiving a nerf to compensate

A hotfix buff for Briar is now live that gives her a bit more resilience when things go wrong. We're being careful here as we expect she'll get stronger as players learn the in(t)s and outs of her kit. Stats HP: 590 >>> 610 E Damage Reduction: 35% >>> 40% Cooldown: 18 >>> 16

For 13.15, we're buffing struggling champions, tapping down some of the stronger champs like Aatrox, Kaisa and nerfing smite against Pet/Summon champions (and making appropriate durability adjustments to them) Naafiri is still a bit strong, so we're taking her down a tad

This patch is mostly focused on stabilization as it will be a 3 week patch and let the meta play out AP Shiv is overtuned on a few cases (LB, etc.), but ~balanced on other others vs other options (Zoe, Teemo, etc.) We're nerfing AP minion ratio and long distance jump charge

@RiotPhroxzon Trinity is finally an option for its intended users like Irelia and Camille. And now it's getting nerfed because of Kindred and Draven. YIKES. Why do toplaners suffer for other roles???

Item changes are mostly for over/underperforming items from ADC/Supp item changes. We're monitoring Tri Force Lucian changes are to have him perform better with more supports (other than just Nami) and Rumble changes are to have him perform better in extended engagements.

A big patch now that things have had time to settle. Buffs are focused at champs that have itemization earflicks (eg. Kaisa evolves), champs that have been languishing (Sivir, Ryze, Nasus, etc.) Nerfs to Pro staples and soloq overperformers. Ivern looks strong, but no nerfs.

We're opting not to Micropatch any item changes for 13.10. We still like champions having items being hyper-synergistic with them, but agree some items should be nerfed for 13.11 This is what we're seeing (highest item users):
