Heads up #Ottawa: We’re seeing an increase in scams involving taxi fares. People are being approached by a young person claiming they need taxifare. A taxi driver, or someone pretending to be a taxi driver, is typically parked nearby to make the story seem true. The young person makes claims about why their payment methods haven’t worked but will offer to reimburse the unsuspecting person with cash if they use their card to pay for the taxi. When the unsuspecting person pays, they do not realize that their card has not been returned to them or has been swapped with someone else’s. The scammers will then use the unsuspecting person’s card until it’s locked. ~ Attention, #Ottawa: on constate dernièrement une hausse du nombre d’arnaques impliquant des tarifs de taxi. Une jeune personne aborde la victime, affirmant avoir besoin d’argent pour payer sa course en taxi. Un chauffeur de taxi, ou quelqu’un se faisant passer pour un chauffeur de taxi, est généralement stationné tout près pour rendre le récit plus plausible. La jeune personne explique que ses modes de paiement n’ont pas fonctionné, mais propose de rembourser la victime en argent comptant si elle veut bien régler la course à l’aide de sa carte. Lorsque la victime peu méfiante effectue ce paiement, elle ne réalise pas que sa carte ne lui a pas été rendue, ou qu’elle a été échangée pour une autre. Les escrocs se serviront ensuite de la carte de la victime jusqu’à ce que celle-ci soit bloquée.

CME WATCH - 2024.10.17: Just after the spacecraft roll is completed, we get a halo CME from what looks like a filament eruption in the NE. A halo event generally means some portion of the CME is heading towards Earth, but this may be too far east to produce a major storm here.

@twitandrewking From Audubon: Cooper's Hawks are around the size of a crow, while Sharp-shinned Hawks are roughly the size of a Blue Jay. Also: squared tail end suggests Sharp Shinned.
