@sandhyaravishan Cos I can choose to install gmail or not. If it’s an android phone and not ios, then I can uninstall gmail. If I don’t want to give them access to my data, I can use the web version. If Google/Apple is caught snooping on users data without consent, then they can be sued as well.

This is what Gmail asks permissions for when you install it or sign in. It's on Google's own website. Of course you can remove some access. But not all of it. Else you cannot use Gmail. What's the difference between Sanchar Saathi & this? #zippy=%2Ctypes-of-permissions" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">support.google.com/googleplay/ans…

@aravind I would love to know which Apple system level app has (1) unrestricted access to my data and (2) can send data to Apple servers without my consent.

My few cents on the new Sanchar Saathi app: 1) I understand people being worried about a Govt app preloaded in their mobile phones. 2) But all phones come preloaded with Google and Apple system level apps with highest privileges to watch our screens, get usage data, and read all sensors, camera, mic, and input. 3) So citizens are ready to trust foreign private companies but worried about their own government. That's a really bad trust issue the govt has. 4) The above three statements don't mean I am for the app. We will see some reply below bashing me without reading in full or assuming I am promoting the app applying an unindian black and white logic. 5) I am against any app being forcefully installed on anyone's device. If people are ok with Google, then that's up to them. At least they have an option to use Apple or use a phone without Google services installed. 6) This idea is bound to fail. Courts won't allow it. GoI needs to recruit and use really smart hackers and experts instead of such ideas by the bureaucracy. 7) GoI needs to learn from Israel, China, or the US. As a Govt, it must be able to get into all devices, even in foreign countries, without even anyone knowing. This is what needs to be done. Because foreign govts are already doing it to our citizens. 8) Also, please ban the use of Android/iOS for our security forces, diplomats, and intelligence. And make a secure AOSP based OS to be installed on Govt issued devices.

@ajaypillay06 @Deadlykalesh I don’t think bashing that owners as a whole is justified. However , in this case it’s a clear case of a risky overtaking manoeuvre. The thar driver could have waited for a cleaner break before trying to overtake - the swift driver simply reacted to avoid a potential collision.

@Deadlykalesh Thar swerved to avoid the 2 wheeler. The Swift oversteered and overcompensated. Also 4 lane with divider. But everyone driving only on one side. Mistake is 2 wheelers and Swift. It is not necessary for Thar to be problem just because it is bigger

@GopiGeethanjali @kaushikcbasu What on earth are you on about? Why choose a poor metric such as nominal GDP to compare decadal trends? At least use real GDP or per capita GDP trends. Also, prof. Basu used an accepted metric of exports as a share of GDP to show room for improvement, what’s the problem here?

@kaushikcbasu A reductive take that cherry-picks one metric while ignoring bigger picture. India’s GDP grew from ~$1.8T in 2013 to ~$3.9T in 2024 (nominal USD), a 117% surge, outpacing many peers despite global shocks like COVID. Absolute exports hit a record $825B in FY25 (up ~6% YoY) 1/n

The rupee now is the weakest it has ever been vis-a-vis the $, having crossed the 89 mark. This is a reflection of the nation’s exports. As % of GDP India’s exports have fallen from 25.4% in 2013 to 21.2% in 2024. India can export much more with professional policymaking.

Defeats happen. But Rahul Gandhi’s real political crime is abandoning his party today. On a day Congress is crushed in Bihar, Mr Gandhi is reportedly abroad. Shouldn’t he have stood with his rank & file? No true leader abandons his army.

Been driving the MG Comet in Delhi NCR for the last 2 weeks. Perfect city car. Charge it at night and you wake up to 200 km range, which is more than enough. It squeezes through traffic like nothing else. Zero noise and zero stress. Loving it.

Aren't you even ashamed to compare? Oh, I forgot, even to feel a little ashamed, a bit of brain is required, right!!! Let me explain: Ravish Kumar resigned from NDTV when Gautam Adani bought it, because, as you know, since it's a news channel, the owner will have some influence over editorial decisions and the independence of reporters. On the other hand, YouTube is just a video hosting platform. Forget about Adani, even the largest stakeholder in YouTube has no say or control over the content that users can host (other than YouTube's predefined rules, which apply to everyone in general). Hence, there will be no pressure or interference in Ravish Kumar's creative decisions, so he need not stop uploading content on YouTube. Hey, kiddo... I hope you've understood. If not, show it to some elders, and they can explain it to you.

Very satisfying ending! Not saying this about the kid, but the parents. If you can't teach your kids humility, patience, and manners, they turn out to be such rude overconfident lot. Not winning a single rupee will surely pinch them for a long time.

@btarunr Thoda aur padh leta. Inflation applies to consumer goods, that’s why the consumer price index. Petrol isn’t a consumer good, its price depends on global crude prices, not on how mehengi daal domestically ho gayi hai. Your post is a typical example of 100% confidence, 0% knowledge

@jai_a_dehadrai @therealkapildev First, Modi’s India?I thought you would be more sensitive towards the constitution. this is not a PM’s country. They come and go. Second, to use such words for a legend like Kapil Dev speaks volumes about your education. You may disagree with him, but ur choice of words is not on

While I am disgusted and shocked to hear Kapil Dev’s (@therealkapildev) inane views on how India should deal with Pakistan, I am not in the least surprised that it is the C-grade “journalist” Rajdeep Sardesai who has chosen to platform such anti-national drivel. The unfortunate reality is that Kapil Dev is now an irrelevant has-been, whose discomfort with the “new system” is nothing more than a rejection of Indian pride and assertiveness under Modi’s India. They dislike the fact that this is an India where citizens, whether cricketers or ordinary people on the street, refuse to brush aside Pakistan’s terrorist tendencies under the guise of politeness or pleasantries. The era of political correctness is long gone. We must be loud, clear, and unapologetic in calling out these malicious crooks for what they are: terrorists and terror-sympathisers. Kapil Dev can take his views and go to hell - or Pakistan - whatever he prefers.
