⛓️ Jacob Carter: Big Jake’s Already Owning the Paint in the 606 and He’s Not Reading The Comments When you walk into a gym and see a 6’8 middle schooler holding it down like a seasoned vet, you know you’re looking at a problem. Meet Jacob Carter, aka @302bigjake606 — a legit paint beast in the Class of 2030 who’s already putting defenders in a blender and snatching boards like it’s personal. Running with Baneville Jr EYBL, Big Jake don’t play cute. He’s all about bruiser ball — setting hard screens, rolling strong, and finishing through contact like a grown man. In his last run, he posted a clean 11 & 11 stat line — that’s double-double work while some kids are still learning how to box out. “I’ve been working on my touch and playing with more confidence,” Carter says. “I used to rush things. Now I slow it down and pick my spots.” That polish is showing. Whether it’s a soft hook, a drop step, or a simple cleanup off the glass, he’s finishing better and thinking the game smarter. But he ain’t satisfied. “This offseason I’m trying to add more to my bag — handling it, stepping out, and getting shots up.” A 6’8 eighth grader working on his jumper and ball-handling? Mismatch alert. If he unlocks the perimeter game, it’s gonna be wraps for defenders. But what separates Jacob isn’t just size or stats — it’s mindset. “The most impactful thing for me was my high school coach believing in me early,” he said. “That gave me the confidence to really go after this.” He’s not playing for followers — he’s playing to become a complete player. This AAU season, he’s challenging himself to step outside the comfort zone, test his limits, and level up in all phases. “I want to be the best version of myself,” he says. “I’m looking forward to getting uncomfortable — that’s how you grow.” Still, don’t think you can talk slick and get away with it. “If somebody yells ‘AND-1!’ in my face? That’s all it takes — my motor goes through the roof. That’s fuel right there.” Pressure? That’s just another day in the gym. “Diamonds are made in pressure,” Carter says, without flinching. “I don’t shy away from the tough stuff — I embrace it.” He’s also locked in on the little things: free throw reps, lateral quickness, and cleaning up the footwork. You might see a highlight dunk, but he’s putting in the boring work when no one’s watching. The best advice he’s been given? “Get outta your comfort zone now — you’re young, and that’s when the real development happens.” From setting hard picks to owning the block like a landlord, Jacob Carter is coming for everything. And don’t let the age fool you — he’s playing grown-man minutes, and he’s just getting started. 📌 Remember the name: Jacob Carter is the next up in Kentucky’s pipeline of elite bigs. And by the time the lights really come on — he’ll already be shining. Written by Cody Thomas #PPFamily

📝 Scouting Report: Jacob “Big Jake” Carter | Class of 2030 | 6’8” | Baneville Jr. EYBL Position: PF/C Height: 6’8” Build: Long frame, solid lower body, physically mature for age Instagram/Twitter: @302bigjake606 📈 Strengths: 🏀 Interior Presence •Controls the paint with size and physicality. Finishes through contact and uses his body well to seal defenders. •Shows soft touch around the rim, especially with baby hooks and short floaters. 🏋️ Rebounding Machine •High-motor on the glass, especially on the offensive end. Averages a double-double (11 PPG, 11 RPG) with instinctive positioning and quick second jumps. •Boxes out with intent and doesn’t shy away from physical play. 🧱 Screen Setter / Roll Threat •Sets wide, firm screens and understands angles in the pick-and-roll. •Rolls hard and finishes strong—a classic rim-running big. 🧠 Coachability & Confidence •Responds well to feedback and shows maturity beyond his years. •Confidence has grown tremendously with support from high school coaching staff—he’s mentally locked in. 🔧 Areas for Development: 🎯 Shooting Range •Working on extending his shot beyond the paint. Mechanics are improving, but consistency from midrange and the free-throw line is still a work in progress. 🛞 Lateral Mobility •Improving agility and foot speed to defend quicker players and switch on screens. •Focused on footwork drills this offseason. 🔄 Ball Handling •Currently limited to one or two power dribbles. Needs to expand handle to attack from high-post or trail situations 💡 Intangibles: •“Motor activates under pressure” – gets fired up by competition and physical play (i.e., “AND-1!” moments). •Handles adversity with resilience and focus — “Diamonds are made in pressure” is his personal motto. •Humble, hungry, and coachable. Embraces discomfort for growth and development. 🎯 Goals for Offseason/AAU: •Improve shooting touch & midrange consistency •Develop ball-handling confidence under pressure •Step outside comfort zone and grow into a modern, versatile big •Become a vocal leader and defensive anchor 🔮 Projection: Jacob “Big Jake” Carter projects as a high-level high school post with D-I potential if development continues. As he adds skill to his size, he could become a floor-stretching, high-motor forward with rim protection upside. #PPFamily
