The CATS ended their historic run with a loss to Denver East yesterday. This season will go down as one of the best in quite some time. Losing 7 Seniors who are so much more than just basketball players. Looking forward to Spring Open Gyms to continue #TrustTheProcess !

Blanket statements on AAU and the culture of youth sports are overwhelmingly negative. This saddens me but I’m not oblivious to the problems. I’m in this world. I see everyday how families and kids are taken advantage of by rising prices, hustlers posing as coaches, and organizations more concerned with themselves than the service they are suppose to provide. I also recognize and notice the people and organizations who do it the RIGHT way. Coaches who lose sleep and sacrifice their own families time to spend time with others. Coaches and Trainers who miss watching their own kids compete in competition just to spend time with another child trying to instill values and morals that go beyond sports. Coaches who pay for food and housing for families who can’t afford to travel. Coaches who can’t sleep because they are focused on finding new ways to get through to athletes who might be struggling. We need more attention on these programs and these coaches. This is what AAU and youth sports is suppose to be about. Find the programs who have Elite coaching, Respectful parents, Realistic expectations. A singular message. A singular vision. This type of program will change your child’s life. Sports are truly meaningless if you can’t take away tangible lessons and skills that make your everyday life better. We need to stop labeling all AAU under one umbrella. Do your research. Find those programs that put your child first. Trust me. They are out there. Great programs exist. Sending love and positivity to everyone!

Don’t be a detriment to your team by being a bad teammate. Good teammates work hard & encourage hard work in others. They increase morale, listen well, lead by example, inspire with a great attitude, give 100%, are energetic/coachable & always promote the team. Be that teammate!
