The 45Q tax credit rewards companies for every ton of carbon captured, including through enhanced oil recovery. This process injects carbon into the ground to release oil and leads to increased carbon emissions. My bill with @RepScottPerry would bar companies using this carbon-intensive process from receiving the 45Q tax credit.
