I think up to now I assumed you were around my age. In case you weren’t around at that time, yes. It was a time when there was a lot of emphasis in popular media on women being skinny and pretty, and then there was like a 20 year pushback, but now we’re back again. You see it in lots of places, not just that one post.

Let’s talk reality. A Jewish baby born today in a West Bank community will have full rights in Israel, a vote in national elections, and access to civilian courts; a Palestinian baby born in that same community will have no democratic rights, tight restrictions on their movement, frequent harassment from settlers, and no access to justice beyond what Israel’s unaccountable military courts mete out. That’s apartheid.

No love lost for the Basij but the Israelis are exhibiting absolutely zero care in their strikes in Tehran. They are bombing checkpoints in the middle of the busy street. This will be killing and wounding civilians. It is the same permissiveness towards civilian casualties as seen in Gaza. Reprehensible targeting strategy. You can see probable civilian casualties in this footage alone and it’s just what the IDF has released.

Yeah this point does confuse me a lot. Dune is "a cautionary tale about messianic leaders" and yet in later books it's revealed that Paul's actions were the only way to keep humanity free. The messianic leader was in fact smarter than everyone else and had to use cold utilitarian logic to do what was best. He literally is a messianic leader saving everyone. That doesn't seem like the message people often scold you into taking away!
