Dr. Alhusain Aly serves as a physician specializing in Internal Medicine at the Veterans Affairs Southern Nevada Healthcare System located in North Las Vegas. Shockingly, Dr. Aly labeled the October 7th Hamas terror attack in Israel as "resistance" and claimed that "Zionist Israel has no future whatsoever." Are Jewish patients safe in this man's care?

The Fourth Anniversary of the Bloody November of #Iran Writing about the Bloody November of 2019 is something I have been dreading. I have procrastinated, fought with myself, and feelings of shame and guilt around not having been there and not having fought alongside my countrypeople. But when all is said and done, this is not about me and my feelings. The Bloody November is about the fight of a nation taken hostage by brutal murderers for a better future. It is about the brave spirit of freedom fighters who took to the streets hoping to create a better and brighter life for future generations. My beloved country people, these courageous people took to the streets empty-handed and demanded justice. There are no words in any language that could even begin to describe the brutality and force they faced from the thugs of the Islamic Republic as a result. I will never be able to paint you a picture or name all the victims, actually heroes, who were killed during these days. I have tried to compile a non-emotional report on the events that took place four years ago on the streets of Iran. What happened during the Bloody November protests? The 2019–2020 Iranian protests, known as "Bloody November," represent a significant period in Iran's recent history, marked by widespread civil unrest and severe regime crackdowns. The protests erupted on 15 November 2019 following a sudden announcement of a 200% fuel price hike. The unrest quickly spread to over 100 cities, evolving into a broader movement against the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the current regime. The protests were deeply rooted in broader socio-economic and political grievances. These included: 1. Government corruption and economic mismanagement 2. Widespread poverty and human rights abuses 3. Opposition to the regime's policies, including its regional involvements and anti-American stance 4. A desire for regime change and removal of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei These protests were notable for their scale, severity, and the high death toll. They represented the most significant challenge to the Islamic Republic since the 1979 Revolution. Unlike previous protests, these demonstrations were not limited to students or major cities but included a broader cross-section of Iranian society and covered a wider geographical area. What tactics did the protesters use? Protesters used a variety of methods to express their dissent. They gathered on streets and squares to chant slogans, sing songs, and hold placards. They also blocked roads and set fires in the streets. Protesters used social media to share information about the protests and organize demonstrations. They also used online platforms to call for international attention to the situation in Iran. This was, however, soon limited since the regime wholly shut down the internet to gain control over the situation. Workers in various sectors, including oil, transportation, and education, went on strike to support the protests. Strikes disrupted the economy and put pressure on the regime. How did the regime (The Islamic Republic) occupying Iran respond? The regime employed lethal force and widespread arrests to suppress the protests. Families of slain protesters were and still are threatened to prevent them from speaking to the media or holding funerals or ceremonies commemorating their loved ones. A significant internet shutdown was implemented to prevent the dissemination of information and the organization of protests. Internet Shutdown Arvan Cloud, the Islamic Republic's cloud computing company based in Duesseldorf, Germany, provided infrastructure and services that enabled the Iranian government to shut down the internet during the Bloody November protests 2019. According to a report by NetBlocks, an internet monitoring organization, Arvan Cloud provided "critical infrastructure" to "filter and censor" internet traffic in Iran during the protests. The report also found that Arvan Cloud had a "direct relationship" with the Iranian government. The internet shutdown during the Bloody November protests significantly impacted Iranians' ability to communicate and access information. It also made it more difficult for protesters to organize and coordinate their activities. Here are the human rights violations the Islamic Republic committed by shutting down the internet: 1. Violation of Freedom of Expression and Information: The internet shutdown by the Islamic Republic during the protests directly infringed on the right to freedom of expression and access to information. This is considered a fundamental human right under international law. 2. Obstruction of Communication: The shutdown hindered the ability of protesters to communicate, organize, and mobilize. It also prevented the dissemination of information about the protests and the regime's domestic and international actions. 3. Social and Psychological Effects: The lack of access to information and communication channels can lead to isolation among the population and exacerbate tensions and fear. Management of Protesters The following list shows the tactics the Islamic Republic used in their "management" of the protests: 1. Use of Lethal Force: The Islamic Republic's management of the protests involved the use of lethal force, resulting in a high number of casualties. This approach is a severe violation of the right to life and the principles of proportionality and necessity in the context of law enforcement. 2. Arbitrary Arrests and Detentions: Thousands of protesters were arbitrarily arrested and detained. Many faced torture, ill-treatment, and denial of due process, violating a range of human rights, including the right to a fair trial. 3. Suppression of Dissent: The regime's actions aimed to suppress dissent and maintain control, reflecting broader issues of authoritarian governance and lack of political freedoms. 4. Intimidation and Harassment: Families of victims and protesters faced intimidation and harassment, further violating their rights and obstructing justice. Preying on people with low income The regime's actions disproportionately affected people with low incomes. These individuals, already economically vulnerable, were hit hardest by the fuel price hike and the subsequent crackdown. They had little to no legal protection and were unable to seek justice for the violence and losses they suffered. Their marginalization made it easier for the regime to deny any wrongdoing. Regime's Judicial and Security Mechanisms The regime employed various mechanisms to undermine the documentation of its crimes and cover up its actions. These included: 1. Suppression of Information: A strategic internet blackout prevented the sharing of evidence of the regime's actions. 2. Intimidation and Arrests: Journalists, activists, and citizens attempting to document the events were arrested and intimidated. 3. Control of Narrative: State-controlled media disseminated propaganda to justify the crackdown. 4. Manipulation of Evidence: There were reports of manipulation and destruction of evidence, including the removal of bodies and pressuring families to sign false death statements. 5. Judicial Persecution: The judiciary, aligned with the regime, conducted trials behind closed doors, often denying detainees legal representation. Victims of the Protests The regime's actions during the protests involved significant human rights violations. Security forces used lethal force against unarmed protesters, resulting in a high number of casualties. Thousands of protesters were arbitrarily arrested and detained, many facing torture and denial of due process. Families of victims and protesters faced intimidation and harassment, further violating their rights and obstructing justice. The victims of the 2019–2020 Iranian protests included men, women, and children from various walks of life. The victims of the Bloody November protests ranged in age from young children to older adults. Amnesty International found that at least 23 children were killed during the protests. Many ordinary citizens took to the streets to voice their frustrations with the regime. The most common cause of death for the victims was gunshot wounds. Other causes of death included beatings, torture, and suffocation from tear gas. According to reports from a variety of sources, including human rights organizations, journalists, and eyewitnesses, some protesters were handcuffed and then thrown in water. Their bodies were found later on the shore. Estimates of deaths vary, with figures ranging from 225 (Interior Ministry) to over 1,500 (Reuters). Thousands were arrested, and significant property damage occurred, including the burning of banks and government sites. However, there was a reported surge of about 5,000 deaths in the Iranian month of Aban (November), coinciding with the days the regime intensified its crackdown. Despite the intense crackdown, protests flared up periodically, with issues like the downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 in January 2020 reigniting public anger. Mahshahr Massacre A particularly harrowing event occurred in Mahshahr, where, between 16 and 20 November 2019, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (#IRGCterrorists) committed a mass killing of protesters. Estimates of fatalities range from 40 to 150. The massacre began when security forces clashed with protesters who had gained control over much of the city. The IRGC responded with indiscriminate shooting, particularly in the suburbs of Sarbandar and Jarahi. According to the New York Times, the IRGC entered the suburb of Shahrak Chamran and shot at protesters, leading to numerous deaths. A second lethal incident occurred in the Shahrak Taleghani district, involving an hours-long gun battle. Initial reports suggested over 130 protesters were killed in Mahshahr during the three days of fighting. It is said that the surrounding area reeked of corpses in the days and weeks that followed. Conclusion The protests of 2019–2020 in Iran were not merely a manifestation of internal discontent but also a reflection of the broader challenges in reconciling state security with human rights. The regime's harsh response not only demonstrated its readiness to employ extreme measures to maintain control but also further alienated a significant portion of the Iranian population. This unrest set the stage for ongoing tensions and highlighted the urgent need for international mechanisms capable of holding governments accountable for human rights violations. The 2019–2020 Iranian protests and the Mahshahr massacre stand as a stark reminder of the severe human rights crisis plaguing Iran, a reality that cannot be ignored. The regime's brutal response to the protests, characterized by the use of lethal force, widespread arrests, and suppression of information, lays bare the depth of its authoritarianism and the extent to which it is willing to go to silence dissent. This crisis underscores the need for concerted international action to address the regime's flagrant disregard for human rights. The victims of these events, their families, and the broader Iranian society demand justice and accountability for the atrocities they endured. This regime is not and will not be reformable. Iranians have been demanding a regime change and have fought tooth and for a better life. The international community has seen all these atrocities over and over again, and yet, they still shake hands with this murderous regime. The traumatic events that have occurred in Iran in the past couple of years have forever changed our view of who our friends and foes are. #آبان_خونین #آبان_ما_پایان_شماست #BloodyNovember

With all due respect: It has been the mullah regime which FM Amir-Abdollahian represents which has financially, politically & militarily enabled #Hamas' rise & thereby contributed to the humanitarian disaster in #Gaza. He is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Met with Iranian Foreign Minister @amirabdolahian at the @UNOCHA office in Geneva today on the devastating situation in #Gaza. The delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid into Gaza, including fuel, medicines and supplies to run hospitals, is critical.
