“I’m done with COVID” is code for “I’m pretty sure I’ll be ok if I get infected, and what happens to other people is of no concern to me.” Other than being selfish and privileged, it‘s shortsighted - more cases = strains on healthcare & other systems, risk of new variants, etc.

you can take all the precautions and still get covid. at this point we all know people who have it or have had it and have done everything right. but there are those of us who very much fear another health setback and the strategy of acceptance doesn’t work for us.
