HOW I EARN 30$ FOR HOUR IN @PlayCalamity Good morning — though once again the profit comes through the auction. Alright, a quick update. Don’t be mad — I’m a bit of a rat. When I wrote about this in the chat , this is what I meant. I’ll explain it below, but first — about the test itself. Mid-test review Once again, all my complaints about the state of the game crash into one simple fact: this is a test. So overall, everything I say below is mostly just an issue with my expectations. But still — here it is. The loot drop system and items themselves: before, you would get 4–5 items per run. Now it's one item per difficulty. Thanks, Dima. The items themselves are only needed once. Everything else either gets smelted into scrap metal or used temporarily. Out of all the progression systems, the one I like the most is stage progression — setting stages, requirements, and similar structural elements. As for the feeling of the game itself, it’s clear the focus has shifted toward the late game, primarily from an economic perspective. At some point the game becomes extremely tedious without new craftable items — especially if you're not using a meta weapon. The same goes for gear upgrading. But here's the catch: crafting resources drop about as often as gear does. Actually… they don't. This creates a massive shortage, which works well for a late-game economy, but it completely breaks player engagement in the process. The reason is a broken time-to-reward ratio for non-ultra-hardcore players — meaning people who don’t grind 6 hours a day during the season. They’re basically chewing carrots and getting nowhere. That’s a problem — this whole segment of the audience (with skill issues or limited time) simply disappears. Even I, after looking at my sad wallet during early and mid-game, got a bit discouraged. But I didn’t give up. Instead, before the 5th boss I parked myself at the auction house and started figuring out what the gigachads would buy. And that brings us to what I was doing from 3 AM to 6 AM… and still doing now. Why am I a rat? Well, partly because I did mention what to pay attention to and where to look for profit — but I didn’t say it directly. Though honestly, the profits weren’t huge enough to brag about. Still, it’s a lesson for the future: when everything looks completely hopeless, there's always a chance you missed something. What I did After reviewing everything related to crafting and analyzing the market around 2–3 AM, I decided to destroy cheap items at the floor price. Their price was 0.9 floor for 20 scrap metal, which meant 0.045 per metal. After buying and smelting items at that price, I decided to stock up even more on gear, since the market supply was extremely thin. Then I swept the metal market from 0.059 up to 0.07, with an average buy price of 0.0669. Then a problem appeared: people still remembered the old price, so they kept dumping and undercutting like crazy. So I started pushing the price down, buying again, and listing closer to 0.09. At the beginning of this whole operation my wallet had 2300 gold. Now it's 3900 gold, which is about $16. To be honest, this strategy can still work right now, because there's still a margin between item prices and metal prices — which is exactly what I’m doing. It's small profit, but hey — auction house gameplay. Separately, I also bought crafting resources, which are still sitting in my bag — roughly 1600 gold worth. So yeah — I could have written a post about losing everything in one move. But trying to push it until the very end resulted in at least some profit. Right now there’s only a tiny gap, but prices are slowly moving upwards both for gear and metal, because demand is huge — though it comes in waves of 1000–3000 units. Either way, I’m still not satisfied with the overall auction profits this season — at least for now. Maybe crafting items will end up being the real money-maker, but I haven't figured that out yet.
