Rick Carlisle said the Pacers have a contingency plan if they lose their pick. They now get their 2031 pick back basically as found money as a trade chip. I would imagine that makes Indiana a pretty aggressive trade team going into the offseason.

@AlexGoldenNBA Pacers got fleeced, which is an abnormality but today is a frustrating day for fans everywhere. The lottery is a terrible idea, ive argued for years, bad teams need high draft picks to get better, tanking or no tanking. The NBA does not help (or want) the bad teams to succeed.

Are we sure the Pacers couldn’t have acquired Zubac in the offseason and still kept their pick? I know that Mathurin and Jackson made the salaries match perfectly, but the trade haul was more for Zubac than Siakam. With Turner leaving in free agency, everyone knew Indiana was desperate for a center and they had to pay a lot to get one.

@TonyREast Absolutely fleeced. The NBA lottery is a scam, its been this way for decades. The Pacers have NEVER had the 1st pick. Only league of the BIG4 to do everything possible to keep bad teams, bad.

Pacers now have their 2031 first rounder unprotected. The final Ivica Zubac trade: 2026 pick 5, 2029 unprotected first, Benn Mathurin, Isaiah Jackson, and a second rounder for Zubac and Kobe Brown.

@esidery Im honestly done with the NBA. It makes no sense to punish teams with bad records. Literally the only league that does this DAS.

The Pacers just lost their 2026 1st-round pick for Ivica Zubac. Los Angeles now gets the No. 5 overall pick. A massive moment of heartbreak again for Indiana.

@AlexGoldenNBA Honestly the NBA is a joke for trying to stop tanking. Bad teams need a way to get better AND there is no guarantee the #1 pick, let alone a top 5 pick gets you a superstar. The lottery is pointless.
