@Cole_Smead If $100 oil does not matter then why have we never in history seen >$100 oil for any meaningful amount of time?

Gad. Floor crossings don’t ‘nullify’ votes. In Canada, people elect individual MPs, not just parties, and those MPs retain their seats if they change affiliation. It’s not common, but shifts like that are part of how a parliamentary system works. It’s been this way since Confederation. This is a feature of Canadian democracy. It is why you elect your MP, not the Prime Minister, and it is why we do not need mechanisms like the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution in Canada.

Canadians vote for several Conservative MPs. They win. Once in parliament, they flip to the @liberal_party achieving a majority. Hence all of the votes in question were nullified. Many Canadians are hailing this as a victory for democracy. It is truly astounding.

@BenRabidoux HST should have never have been a thing, the development charge increases were outrageous. If it brings down resale, so be it. At least people will have a choice between shiny and new and something more affordable that needs $ over time.
