@alphastack1 honestly, same. I hate bugs, it's the only thing that frightens me. no clue why I decided to make a game about bugs.

New camera for the bug game. World up cam is most stable but on steep slopes & ceilings local cam is useful. Also, early look at terraforming. Can't wait to implement worms so I can give them insane digging ability. Do myriapods even dig? #screenshotsaturday #madewithunity

@ioriamanta thank for noticing. all procedurally animated. I want to do a deep dive on those sometime. especially the foot, I've got foot and heel roll implemented, it's so satisfying to see. I need larger creatures to really showcase these things.

@CadenBurleson yes, that's the plan. already have spiders implemented. worms next. then something that flies.

@416_dc This is dope! Are there any other characters you can play as? IDK all the legs are distracting me for some reason.

@wackfpv definitely. I want ants to be one of the ways we communicate to players where hidden goodies may be.

@JLGuerraInfante hmm, that could be tricky since I need to account for up and down in addition to north, south, east, west. definitely doable, and a fun thing to tackle. maybe something like the metroid prime games? although I don't recall if I liked the maps in those games.

@AlienBloomGame awesome, my solution looks like a third person version of this one, i.e., blend between local and world up cams depending on the alignment of the surface with world up. do you know if the wall climbing was automatic, or did you have to explicitly go into wall climb mode?

@Benzasaur two franchises I love! but yes, spiders are already implemented, and next up is worms and some kind of flying insect.

@416_dc If the music and fx sounded a bit muffled when you go to the underground, that would be insane!

@_DeceptiveGames definitely. my auto cam uses world up when the surface normal is aligned with world up, otherwise it uses local cam. it works pretty well, but local mode needs some low pass filtering otherwise every tiny bump on the surface wobbles the camera.

@416_dc The world-up versus local camera problem sounds fascinating for a bug game. Ceilings and steep slopes make camera stability a real design challenge.

@RealtimeVFXMike Nice. This works on any surface or are you filtering which ones you want this behavior? How do you handle high frequency surfaces? I prefer the stable world up cam in our bug game, but sometimes local up is more desirable so I don't have a nice way to choose one or the other atm.

Character Controller update. More gravity volumes! If the last one didn't make you sick this one is sure to. Need to work on getting the camera to not clip into the world. #GameDev #IndieDev #Unity3D

@Ki_fun_thoughts great suggestion for the camera, and im happy you appreciated the pole climbing, i'm more proud of that than the environment

@416_dc Very nicely done. [ I made many famous games in the 80s/90s ] A trick, subtle, to consider, move the camera such that the direction the centipede is moving is given the most room. The spiral pole climb, cherry!

trying to nail the macro look in our buggy game. when you're the size of a bug, a simple puddle or patch of moss becomes a massive, complex environment. #madewithunity

@tylerosborn @PewPewsAlote valid. i actually have a pretty strong macro depth of field effect, but i push the focus distance quite far. i'll play around with the settings.
