His name was Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero. He was a young father who deserved life and dignity. He was our neighbor. His daughter deserved to grow up with a father. If you can, I ask you to please contribute to help Johan’s family as they navigate this unspeakable tragedy. Donate here: gofund.me/2d196d306

🚨This is exactly how ICE agents create the very situations they later use to justify murdering citizens. In the video, they box in the vehicle of a U.S. citizen. They approach with guns already drawn, and try to open her car door… while repeatedly ordering her to unlock it, and ignoring anything she says. And notice how they don’t identify themselves. They don’t explain why she’s being detained. They don’t tell her what crime they suspect her of committing. To the person inside the car, it’s just a group of masked, armed men surrounding her vehicle and trying to force their way in. That’s how panic starts. And when people panic, move their car, or try to get away from what they reasonably perceive as a violent threat, ICE agents open fire, and later claim the vehicle was “used as a weapon.” Law enforcement cannot detain people without legal justification. The Fourth Amendment protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures, and officers are expected to clearly communicate their authority, and the basis for their actions. They are supposed to de-escalate situations. Instead, they use tactics to create fear and confusion… making it more likely someone will panic, and easier for agents to claim deadly force was necessary, while they violate the person’s constitutional rights. When these tactics become standard practice, accountability becomes nonexistent.

‼️ MAINE ICE SHOOTING: Good time to remind all that DHS Policy bans officers from: - discharging weapons unless driver poses an imminent threat to others - placing himself in a position where the only option is to use deadly force ( for example: in front of a moving car)

This as the most fun those ICE agents had in their lives and it’s why they signed up. They got to kill a guy for “disrespecting” them, which is the fantasy of so many Trump voters tired of people looking down on them for being bad people.
Warren@swd2

They shot him, dragged his lifeless body onto the pavement, and handcuffed his corpse while his 3-year old daughter wearing Bluey pajamas watched in horror. If you say you voted for this you are an empty soulless vessel.

His name was Joan Sebastian Guerrero. - He was here legally. - He was authorized to work. - He had Social Security Number. - He was NOT target of ICE investigation. - DHS: He did NOT try to kill ICE agents. He was executed in front of his 3 year old daughter.

@ReichlinMelnick So...they have legal permission to work in the US but not live in the US? So like...would the asylum seeker have to go back to their home countrt after work every day or am i missing something

One point of clarification: just because a person has a work permit and a Social Security number does NOT mean they have "legal authorization to live ... here." Applicants for asylum get work permits while they wait. Any person with a work permit gets an SSN to pay taxes with.

🚨BREAKING UPDATE OUT OF MAINE: The man killed in the Biddeford, Maine ICE shooting has been identified as a 26-year-old Colombian man who was authorized to work in the United States and had been issued a Social Security number. This wasn’t a “violent criminal.” This wasn’t even an undocumented immigrant. This was someone who had legal authorization to live and work here. So why was ICE trying to pull him over? A witness also says he saw a large white vehicle ram the smaller vehicle, followed by a second impact… And heard gunshots. He says he then saw an officer open the vehicle door, pull a man out with blood covering his head, and heard him say: “I tried to stop.” ICE agents do not have the authority to stop whoever they want, give conflicting orders, escalate an encounter, and then use deadly force when that situation becomes chaotic. If the government gives agents the power to carry weapons and take someone’s life, those agents have a responsibility to make sure they are acting within the law before they create a situation where someone can be killed. A person’s rights do not disappear because an ICE agent decides to stop them. Which means the question that must be answer is this… Was this man killed because ICE created a dangerous situation that never should have happened? Because when the government can put someone in a life-or-death situation, the question cannot only be whether the final seconds justified pulling the trigger. We have to ask why this encounter was allowed to escalate in the first place.

Read Raising Expectations (and Raising Hell)
ICE claiming that everyone who flees for their lives is “trying to run them over” is so dystopian. Trying to live is declared a death sentence by these monsters.
