@TmMudda @TMesports @DreamHack Bose QC Ultra 2 for the best comfort/NC combo, Sennheiser HDB 630 for sound quality.

Travelling tomorrow for @TMesports @DreamHack tournament.
Gonna invest in some noise cancelling headphones before I board the plane. Any brand/model recommendations to keep an eye for?

@RexieSquad @televisionaryZW @NostalgiaFolder Real wages being up *definitionally* means than wage growth has outpaced price growth.
English

@RexieSquad @televisionaryZW @NostalgiaFolder As your screenshot states, the median worker has more purchasing power now than 50 years ago. Growth has been slower than in the years before, certainly, but wages have not gone backwards.
English

@RexieSquad @televisionaryZW @NostalgiaFolder You are comparing nominal prices to real wages, which is fundamentally fallacious.

@formerlymeta @Colin61455279 @shitpost9000 @Jbn3ex In the very first edition, the ring is table stakes for the riddle game and Gollum happily hands it over, no bad blood. You can see why this wouldn't make too much sense given the events of LOTR haha
English

@42thegreat @Colin61455279 @shitpost9000 @Jbn3ex Oh cool. In the original gollum plans on killing bilbo after he gives the ring over?
English

The actual answer is it was introduced in The Hobbit, a light childrens book, where it was actually just a magic ring, then Tolkien wrote LotR and retconned it

English

@formerlymeta @Colin61455279 @shitpost9000 @Jbn3ex This depends on the version of the book, Tolkien retconned The Hobbit multiple times. In the first edition, Gollum is actually pretty chill and has over the ring willingly; in the second, he gets angry after handing it over. You're right w.r.t the third.
English

@42thegreat @Colin61455279 @shitpost9000 @Jbn3ex Bilbo already had the ring. The riddle game was about whether he would show bilbo the way out of the mountain. (He was going to eat bilbo if he won)
English

@Colin61455279 @shitpost9000 @Jbn3ex The riddle game is treated as absolutely holy in The Hobbit, Gollum is basically forced to give Bilbo the ring and then immediately starts planning to kill Bilbo and get it back.
English

@shitpost9000 @Jbn3ex Did Gollum willingly give it as a prize? He seemed VERY upset if "What has it got in its nasty pocketsess" is any indication. Unless I'm forgetting something after.

Ok wow this is huge! Time to lock in

@ShadJay2 @TheOneDanTek @GamzlyTKD @mweinbach @Dell Thermals aren’t universal, but efficiency is way up so they generally aren’t an issue unless the OEM did something stupid.
English

@ashlander0609 @SarkerNotParker @atlanticesque Yep completely agreed, if a single person is getting full on the test it defeats the entire point. Definitely a balance to be struck though, don’t want to become like India or China for admissions.
English

@42thegreat @SarkerNotParker @atlanticesque If you implemented this system now since it’s too easy the test just has a bunch of people at the top that are separated by very little
Since the top is crowded even getting one question wrong is what causes you to get rejected
If u make it harder it separates people more
English

Yes, this essay is terrible.
But everyone dunking on it doesn’t realize how bad it is out there right now.
This is basically average for a college student.

English

@ashlander0609 @SarkerNotParker @atlanticesque Your numbers are off, only ~1000 get 1600 a year. If you include 36s on the ACT (much easier imo) that's 3000 more, still nowhere near enough to fill the Ivy League.
English

@SarkerNotParker @atlanticesque There are way more 1600 scorers than seats at every Ivy and top 25 school, the SAT doesn't even have calculus
stupids can easily get a 99th percentile score just with a competent tutor lol

@Eggsbert_ @hopes_revenge who is the bald guy in the meme?

@PhazonGuzzler @rowanfornow What does "just stop" mean though? Even if Bezos or Zuck retired early on they still would've become billionaires unless their companies went bust. Imo most people would want to take a business with that much potential as far as they could.
English

@rowanfornow i don't think you become a billionaire if part of you doesn't like making money just for the sake of it (not the spending part). if you were incredibly successful and lucky with a normal worldview, you'd probably be content with a couple 10s millions and just stop there
English

ngl if I ran into this much money I would immediately refuse any additional revenue stream too. I've never understood billionaires who come across more money than they could ever spend and still spend their life trying to make even more

@ResolveReviews @iamtechless Just saw this as well! Really hoping that devs start implementing ASIO, 100ms is insane.

Interesting vid from @iamtechless - hopefully this is something that can improve in competitive titles.

@JaguarCat_ @Eye_ofthelens @olaotantc @SawyerMerritt Some downforce, yes, but F1 cars have way too much for pure top speed; that’s why DRS works.
English

@Eye_ofthelens @olaotantc @SawyerMerritt Above 400 km/h, cars need downforce even for straight line speed, because they wouldn't be able to accelerate any further with normal tyre friction.
English

Chinese automaker BYD’s U9 Xtreme EV just hit a verified top speed of 496 km/h (308 mph) at Germany’s ATP proving grounds, making it the new fastest production car in the world, beating the Bugatti Chiron's 304.77 mph.
• 2,978 hp
• 80 kWh LFP battery
• 1,200v platform
• New track-grade LFP Blade Battery with dual-layer cooling, capable of 30C discharge rates for improved thermal management. Density of each cell is increased by 170% compared with the lower trim U9 800V system.
• Up to 500 kW charging speed
• Each of its four motors spin at a max of 30,000 RPM and is made of super thin 0.1mm silicon steel, a first in mass production
