🇮🇱🇺🇸 Netanyahu got caught on tape working to kill his own war crimes warrant The New York Times reviewed recorded calls from October 2024 where Netanyahu and the late Senator Lindsey Graham cooked up a plan to stall the ICC arrest warrant closing in on him. The move was to weaponize sexual misconduct allegations against ICC prosecutor Karim Khan. Netanyahu called it "the great cloud" that could justify pausing everything, telling Graham the stain "has to be removed" and pushing him to get senators to send a letter. On a second call that day Graham said "we got them both," meaning Democrats Blumenthal and Cardin were on board, then joked, "pay me for all this." The letter went out November 1. It didn't work, and the ICC issued the warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant three weeks later. More than 100 soldiers and commanders from the Givati Brigade’s Tzabar Battalion laid down their weapons and left the Sde Teiman military base without authorization following a confrontation with their battalion commander, Israeli media reported. Sde Teiman is the notorious military detention and torture site where Israel has held Palestinians seized en masse from Gaza, including men and boys rounded up during military raids, without charge or access to lawyers. Former detainees, whistleblowers and rights groups have documented severe beatings, systematic rape and sexual abuse, and other forms of torture there. The soldiers reportedly abandoned their weapons and equipment before heading home. The Israeli military said disciplinary action would follow.
