@kaitsgooner @CDFRed123 Idk if you have an Adidas outlet near you but this season's tops (home/away/3rd/goalkeeper/warmup) are usually like £30-40

@dawesy2801 Fairs fairs, they certainly look very clean and give you 100% accuracy. I remember back in the day, having to go into store to find the Arsenal badges with the best stitching and good alignment. So some positives

@TJiMTS @redzonebob I hear ya! I’m still trying to overcome the mental barrier of “money tomorrow” and “delayed gratification” even though I know pension is the best option. Just hate that i’m doing it because I “Have” to and not because I “Want” to.

Yeah what the guy above said basically. At higher income levels it just is what it is basically. EIS/SEIS investments with maximum pension contribution are your only real hopes. If you're good enough at something to be paid 200k a year at something consider starting a consultancy though - that's where the big game changer comes in.

Earn £100k and you keep £68,557 Earn £125k and you keep £78,057 That’s £25k more income for only £9,500 more take home A 62% effective tax rate. Here’s the trap, and how to escape it 🧵

@499Ways @TJiMTS The advice is aimed at the £100k-£125k bracket where you are losing your PA so paying 60% tax on that £25k. Above £125k you revert back to paying tax at the marginal rate as your PA is gone. If you earn £200k you would need to somehow “sacrifice” £100k to avoid the PA tax trap.

@BaldieJack @Flying_Scotty I think he doesn’t like the volume of products coming onto the market, probably killing shirt collecting, especially if you had a super rare 1990’s shirt for example you’ve kept mint, all of a sudden it gets rereleased today in crazy numbers. What was the point of collecting it…

@IrisDuane I get where you’re coming from Iris but I think it’s not all black and white for 2 reasons. 1) “Rich” is subjective 2) High income ≠ significant assets There are so many nuances. Is it a single income household? Do you provide financial support to your family? etc etc.

@MartinSLewis @Gavin_James_uk Not having a go Martin, just trying to understand more so please don’t take my question as sarcastic… Doesn’t it even itself out given that higher priced homes will pay way more in stamp duty?

It is based on flawed valuations done in a rush as a stop gap. And they are based on 1991 prices. The only way it could be correct is if we'd seen uniform moves across the country with all areas increasing by the same amount. While you are right it is used locally so councils set the value for each band - the band value is a national threshold, so therefore based on current valuations those areas which have seen the most house price growth (many of which will have seen new purchasers since 1991) are relatively undercharged compared to areas with less high growth.

You're right. I've been campaigning on this since 2007. Council tax (Eng&Scot) is STILL based on a flawed stop-gap valuation done by driving by homes in 2nd gear in 1991. The system is broken. YET when I've asked about it, all parties, incl yours, have shied away from any change
Jonathan Hinder MP@Jonathan_Hinder

A £24,000,000 mansion in London pays LESS property tax than a £240,000 pebble-dash semi in Lancashire. Council Tax is a joke. Let’s sort this out.

@_zogz @Falcon_Malteser @6munzz Why are we doubling the hours all of a sudden? Just moving goal posts lol. It’s called progressive tax, virtually all developed economies use a progressive income tax system. I get where you’re coming from but… “it’s not worth it at all” Come on? Stop being a sensationalist.

@499Ways @Falcon_Malteser @6munzz Going from 40 hours a week to 80+ a week for an extra 2k a month is not worth it. Also, when do you ever see people double their salary from 50k to 100k??? I merely used this example to highlight the taxation problem in this country

I know I’m late to the party but I still can’t believe someone earning £84k and £104k only take home around £1k difference. I keep thinking these calculators are lying to me
