I used to watch American youtubers in the 2010's literally go through Gamesstop's trash and find tons of retro games, store displays and other stuff.
Later a lot of them even started pouring cooking oil into the dumpsters to destroy them.

You''ll think I'm making this up, but Gamestop use to destroy retro games as they came in because they saw no value in selling them. A guy I knew had to break Super Nintendo Games with a hammer just to keep his job. It got so bad they had to put a lock on the dumpster outside.

Build your own server now, slowly add hard drives as you can afford it and host your own media. There's no better time with what's out there.
I use Unraid as an OS and host a RetroNAS & Jellyfin server for personal use. Most of the software is free and open source.
