The foundational #ontology#DOLCE stands as a prime example of European research success. Originated in 2002 within the #WonderWeb project (wonderweb.man.ac.uk), DOLCE - short for Descriptive Ontology for Linguistic and Cognitive Engineering - is developed and maintained in First Order Logic (FOL). This work paved the way for the initial releases of the web ontology language and has now been integrated into the ISO/IEC 21838-3 #standard, which is under publication. Today, Emilio Sanfilippo @4eversanfy, Stefano Borgo and Walter Terkaj are talking about it in the second day of Training on Ontology Engineering using #OCES. They're exploring its application in the web ontology language and its relevance in engineering and practical scenarios. The session includes a general overview of DOLCE, insights into ontology taxonomy, DOLCE's role in the web ontology language, and its broader implications in engineering and application.

I honestly don't understand how anyone can NOT study philosophy. Imagine going through life without being deeply uncertain whether or not chairs exist?
Is such a life even worth living?
The "linguistic turn" in philosophy was when one day Ludwig Wittgenstein was like "words, how the fuck do they work?" and philosophers were so pissed off about it they couldn't think about anything else for like 40 years straight.
Don't miss the chance of submitting a paper to the workshops at the 2021 Joint Ontology Workshops (JOWO) initiative! Here the Website: iaoa.org/jowo/2021/inde…
Applied Ontologists! The IAOA's Twitter account is still alive and in great shape. Why not to share news, events, interesting papers related to ontology engineering research etc. by referring to @IAOA_Official? We look forward to hearing from you!
