He's suing the interviewer for defamation.
It's been a while since I litigated a defamation claim, but I'm struggling to see how any of these statements/questions is defamatory.

Hassett actually said "at a slightly higher price." He thus acknowledges that for tariffs to work, i.e. to encourage the substitution of domestic for imported goods, they must lead to higher prices. Which is what the NY Fed study he trashes found has happened.

Hassett: "The basic theory of President Trump's tariffs is, sure, we're importing stuff from China, but we've got producers in the US who make stuff, maybe at a slightly higher place. If we bring the stuff home, create the demand at home, then that will hurt China and drive up wages in the US and American consumers will be better off ... consumers were made better off by the tariffs."

To amplify, I'm generally in favor of striking Iran -- there is just cause for war given Iran's decades-long violent campaigns against the U.S. and the immense threat of an Iranian bomb -- but we need achievable goals, competent leadership, and public buy-in. As of right now, I'm worried we're zero for three on that score.

It's astonishing that we're building up for a significant military clash, and Congress isn't involved, no real case is being made to the public, and the average American has no clue. If this gets serious, it will be a shock for lots of people.
