Once the hills and moors were alive with activity, comings and goings, people, livestock, trade; full of life. Yet more shieling huts: 56.78120° N, 3.68009° W Pos. hut circle or enclosure + possible bothy: 56.78415° N, 3.68489° W What else is out there to be discovered ?

Giving up on twitter except to post the occasional blog links for those few that might find them interesting or not. I’m looking for a more stand alone blog platform, meanwhile… Friends (or not)can email me 😐 Castle Menzies covid memorial sculptures scottish-photography.co.uk/blog-215-castl…

Downloaded the Substack app ::::::::::: Deleted Substack app. I really don’t need more endless scrolling. It’s like a mashup of twitter, Bluesky and whatever. Mostly reposting of tweets but in no apparent order. Is it so difficult to just tweet a link to a blog post 🤷

@45johnferguson @JohnsWalks1 @CollaAlasdair I'm sure there are but I can't say any have drawn my attention. Some nice birch lower down and that is an interesting enclosure of old with grass covered footings of two structures. 🙃

@AcfAscot On a terrace. Its also the location that intrigues. The boulder on first pic is the route to it and there is a small enclosure there also. 👍 #56.762257,-3.638202,17" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">satellites.pro/UK_map#56.7622…

@57seoras From the first photo looks like it's in a platform, possibly enhanced? Looks a bit robust for animals. I'll see what other colleagues think.

Still puzzled by this, visited again yesterday. On a slope. Pos. internal divisions/stalls. Opening at gable end with chamfered stonework. Several aumbry. Pitched roof? Odd location with no obvious route up to, only down. I can only think it’s for animals but in what way. ??????

@JohnsWalks1 @45johnferguson @CollaAlasdair I can see why Atholl would desire it, having a considerable area of grazing, despite the distance around/over Creag Leacagach. Nice round enclosure at Laoigh. An enclosure of this size and period(?) is quite unusual in the area, indicative to of the 'wealth' of the shieling.
