@rupasubramanya @mattgurney If we aren't able to decide as a populace please explain how our system works. You seem to have all the answers but no reference points. No documents to backup your opinions.

You publish a piece full of slurs, epithets and polemics on the Alberta independence movement, and then you insist the commentary be otherwise. Seems like a colossal double standard between the tenor of the piece and the tenor you expect from readers @mattgurney .

Provinces are not completely free to decide their own future on their own. The Constitution, Indigenous treaties, and the rights of other governments all have to be considered too. So basically no province can realistically secede from Canada. readtheline.ca/p/clarke-ries-…

@iluminatibot Good! If you go to any country as a visitor & break their laws you should be sent home. I don’t know why anyone would question that.

BREAKING: In a massive move, the Trump-Vance administration has announced that, as a national security measure, it has canceled the visas of a staggering 80,000 people from other countries. This includes around 16,000 for drunk driving, 12,000 for assaults and 8,000 for theft.

For the first time, Canada overtook the U.S. as the most attractive destination for infrastructure investment among surveyed investors who manage about $1 trillion in investments. Capital is flowing back toward countries seen as politically stable, resource rich, energy secure, and strategically useful in a fractured world order. Canada suddenly matters again. giia.net/insights/pulse…

@Bratt_world You really seem worried about what is going on in Alberta. Are you moving here?

If people would just LISTEN to first nations leaders you would hear them say that we can BUILD our country up TOGETHER There is a chance here to develop Canadas resources while SHARING some of that revenue with the remote locals. We can lift people out of poverty and train the youth for industry jobs all over the north.

@IAMSMRT1 @sarobertson_ I don't like calling people names. It's a sign of low intellect. Acronyms are amusing though and I do enjoy a good laugh. We need less division

Tim Powers reacts to Danielle Smith calling Alberta judge's decision 'antidemocratic': "Let's not forget the obvious fact we all learned in our civics classes: there's nothing undemocratic about the judiciary — they exist in our system to provide a check and a balance in circumstances like this."

@KirkLubimov The fact they don't look at the last 11 years of trashing Alberta all while taking vast wealth from us is very telling. I believe that was Trudeau's favorite buzz word for awhile "gaslighting" 🤣

CBC is digging up every Liberal rat to bad mouth Alberta. "You asking people to take a look at the Province of Alberta and this is what they are seeing...who is going to put their money into this province." Alberta is leading the country in attracting capital for project and creating full time jobs. Weird how after a lost decade that red taped this country out of hundreds of billions of dollars they don't say the same about Canada and Liberal leadership, besides the record foodbank usage. Also, if she thinks the pipeline to the West Coast would cost $50B and 10 years to build without hypocrisy, maybe don't invite PR people to talk about economics.

We have a Premier that calls a court decision to uphold the rule of law as "undemocratic" as she simultaneously attempts to gerrymander our legislature for her political benefit. She is the personification of hypocrisy. #abpoli

@Lenforoffice Your lack of fear to just take it to a vote is very telling. As a former politician why are people so afraid? Genuinely why are we promoting fear instead of simply letting the vote go ahead?

Trump to Xi: "We're going to have a fantastic future together. I have such respect for China. The job you've done. You're a great leader. I say it to everybody. You're a great leader." It's cute how MAGA and MAGA North are describing this flattery as "realpolitik," when Carney's very measured approach without the extravagant praise on Xi in January was met with meltdowns about betrayal, capitulation, and selling out the West. The hypocrisy is comical. For what it’s worth, I think both Trump and Carney are ultimately doing what any serious leader has to do: deal with China as it is, not as they wish it to be. The difference is mostly one of tone, not substance. Both understand that China is a major rising power that cannot simply be ignored or economically ring fenced out of the global system.

@AdriaOfCourse @ToewsWenda I'm not sure why people are so worried. If they are so sure why don't they let it run its course. I've never witnessed this level of fear over a simple vote.

@ToewsWenda If there’s a referendum how can 15% force anything? You clearly don’t understand how referendums work. 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

Danielle Smith clearly does not represent the interests of the majority of Albertans. Smith is aware that only about 15–16% of Albertans are committed to independence regardless of the economic costs. Yet she insists on having a referendum question on separation. That’s 16% of Albertans wanting to force 84% of Albertans into a provincial separation that they don’t want. Yet Smith is strongly motivated to represent Separatists. With Danielle Smith’s consistent dishonesty, with the help that she received from David Parker to become the leader of the UCP, with her desire to not respect judicial decisions and with not expressing any negative vocalization about having party members that openly support separatist ideology, it is very difficult to believe that Smith would honestly share the results of a referendum. Nor is it believable that she would respect the results of this referendum. It’s time for Albertans to stand against Danielle Smith and against the UCP.
