"I was on my phone to attend that meeting," Smith's staffer finally admits.
They knew of the data breach.
they knew Kenney's private data was illegally shared.
they just didn't call the authorities.
Alberta's NDP did.

@heidinger2137 Claiming Ottawa “takes” $40B/year from Alberta wildly inflates the numbers. Alberta’s projected 2025 net fiscal contribution is about $12.7B — not $40B. The feds don’t “take” $ directly from Alberta, Albertans pay federal taxes like every Canadian.
English

Its because ottawa takes over 40 billion dollars a year from Alberta.
Confederation was and is the problem.
THE REPUBLIC OF ALBERTA WILL BE AMAZING.

Alberta has been governed by conservatives for nearly 60 years. If healthcare is strained, schools underfunded, housing unaffordable, and the economy unstable, blaming the NDP after one 4-year term isn’t analysis — it’s political amnesia

“It becomes ever more obvious that Alberta’s separatists and the UCP are so tight they squeak.
And now, the separatists are bent on deepening their influence on the party.
Some might call it a takeover.”

When Danielle Smith says Alberta is “ending woke culture.” remember it is all performative nonsense designed to distract and keep her core base onside.
Focus on the damage she is doing to our province, our country and our future prosperity.

@TerryHethering9 There is no $5,000/person “Alberta pays the East” transfer. Canada doesn’t work that way. Taxes go to a federal pool, then are spent nationwide. Equalization is formula-based, not an Alberta-to-East payment. Alberta contributes more overall, but not a direct per-capita payout.

@gordo_10001 @DDay1123404 CPP is a national, pooled social insurance plan, not a set of provincial savings accounts. Contributions from workers and employers across Canada go into one fund and are used to pay current retirees, with investments smoothing long-term obligations. Alberta has no share.
English

@DDay1123404 @CanadianModera1 Our over contribution to CPP would offset the debt by multiples.
Math much?
English

@Laurie6827 Alberta spending under the NDP peaked around the mid-$50B range annually. Under the UCP, budgets have generally been materially higher, reaching $70B–$80B+ in recent years. The UCP are the party of big government and bigger spending.
English

@CanadianModera1 No the NDP pretty much set the bar for spending money, killing industries and not producing anything. It will be hard to beat their record.
English

Remember that Smith only became UCP leader October 2022.
How the hell can one leader bring some much corruption, incompetence & chaos to our province in such a short period of time ?
Surely she has set some kind of record for bad gov.

Even as I detest how Smith & the UCP is enabling separatism & dividing Albertans, I see a moment for Canadians in Alberta—many born across Canada & around the world—to stand up for our shared country, show pride in Canada, & send a clear message: we’re stronger together. #abpoli

@JoseDominio @KirkLubimov Not really journalism.
Uses highly ideological framing & emotionally charged presentation.
Focuses heavily on commentary & campaigns rather than neutral reporting.
Frequently positions itself as opposing “mainstream media,” which encourages audience identity & outrage engagement.
English

@CanadianModera1 @KirkLubimov Rebel's style is much to be desired, but from a veracity standpoint, they're one of the best in the country, and they're very quick to offer a correction if they do get something wrong.
English

@oneleglover There is a strong generational component in rural Alberta.
English

@CanadianModera1 I don’t underestimate her, or the Alberta voters who seem addicted to voting blue even when it’s causing us harm.
English

I acknowledge the outrage and frustration that many of us feel regarding the UCP, but don’t underestimate the political skills of Premier Smith. She figured out that in the current political environment, noise and outrage are more powerful than truth and progress. #abpoli

🚨 BREAKING: A new report commissioned by the AFL has confirmed Alberta is now the epicentre of disinformation in Canada— largely driven by direct foreign interference.
This is a five-alarm fire.
29% of Albertans now rank as "highly disinformed"— nearly DOUBLE the national average. No other province comes even close.
Russian state media, MAGA operatives, and AI content farms are targeting Albertans.
They want to divide us, and our governments are doing nothing about it.

@sarobertsonca What has 60 years of conservative governments done to my province ?
English

@sarobertsonca Maybe she should consider running for office in the USA.
