Owner of this app is a sadistic piece of shit who enjoys the thought of putting people with HIV & little children through a wood chipper. Will be deleting this account.

@MassyBooks might be the “rate” they get but doesn’t include all the hours of being on call, checking labs, making referrals. When I worked neurosurgery, the residents made = to $8/hr when they calculated all the *actual* hours they worked. 😮

Despite David Eby's election pledge to protect nurses, the BC Nurses' Union is again speaking out after two recent incidents where nurses were harmed by drug smoke. Promise made. Promise broken. globalnews.ca/news/10982726/…

@billkinkle I wish you could attend my clinic. Yesterday as a nurse I decided to defer ordering a UDS for a methadone pt b/c he has 6 days left of parole that “require” abstinence from drugs. He dabbles so I don’t want to send him back to jail. We will collect later. No punity here.

I would comply with every arbitrary rule at the methadone clinic if addiction was understood as a consequence of a poor choice. However, since I’ve been repeatedly told my struggle with addiction was in no way my fault (i don’t agree with this entirely though) and it is a medical issue that is treated with medication I cannot peacefully close my eyes at night if I participate and allow myself to be treated as a parolee. There needs to be symmetry between our collective understanding of addiction and how those suffering are treated.

@fearless_rising As a minor point of clarification- his grandparents died in the holocaust but he was born at the end of WW2. Of course there are intergenerational impacts of that.

@Oilfield_Rando I used to hate it for the size but when I learned they cap the CEO salary, pay above a living wage and offer good benefits to employees then I became a fan. They also have good quality cheap produce

I went in a Costco for the first time in my life the other day. The experience is so different from a Wal Mart that is was honestly jarring. Felt like I had gone to another state, not another store. Love it. Should have joined ages ago.

@NateB_Panic I pronounced a Dutch word for someone the other day and the vibration in the back of my throat emptied out my upper nasal passage - like a waterfall of post nasal mucous descended. So maybe I’ll have to speak more Dutch!

Pretty astonishing research about a guy who cured his years-long chronic rhinosinusitis in 4 days by humming for one hour a day and therefore naturally boosting his production of nitric oxide, a potent antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal

@drpaulwinston @raghu_venugopal I appreciate and understand your post. I would choose cdn health care over any country. But within the system, there is inequity & my patients suffer the worst of it. I’m glad you received excellent & efficient care

Paul Winston MD - Restoring Movement is the goal.
I'm okay; I checked into Vancouver General @ 8 am ER due to an animal encounter. No lineup. Triaged by 8:15, the nurse vitals and intake at 8:30. A private room with a nurse exam at 9, and saw MD. 2 hours for infectious disease and Public health to make plan $0 @raghu_venugopal

@CanadianKayMD @GE_Appliances I’ve read some 3d printing might work. I bought a blender from oster with a 7 year guarantee. A piece broke so I call to replace. They made it obsolete after 2 years and offered me a toaster oven to replace my blender….

My very nice @GE_Appliances range, which is 9 years old, had the 3-in-1 element stop working. Have now been told that GE is no longer even making the part - the switch - that’s needed. This stove was almost $3000 new. I’d expect more than 9 years before it is made obsolete.

I don’t understand getting your food or groceries delivered. Are you really that busy? What happens when all your chores depend on a underclass of people scuttling around to deliver your groceries, cut your grass or clean your house? What remains? There is something undignified in it.

@CanadianKayMD When I lived in the US I would “donate” my plasma for $20US per time, twice a week. It paid my rent. Most folks were students or low income. Canadians criticize paying for plasma but interestingly canada has to buy 70% of its blood products from the US.

My 14yo has an assignment on the ethics of human subject research and had a question about including different populations in clinical trials. So we’re watching a Call the Midwife episode about thalidomide as an introduction to the topic.

@CTA_gc what are rules about changing dates of flights 6 months in advance. Booked calgary to Barcelona for June 5. They just changed it to June 6. Cuts a day off of vacation. Doesn’t seem right or acceptable.
